A community health center that offers life-saving services for those in need across Richmond announced this week that it lost $850,000 in federal funding — nearly a third of its budget — and could potentially lose up to $1.5 million.
This week in Washington was dominated by a grueling 26-hour marathon Energy and Commerce Committee meeting, where Republicans advanced a budget that would close hospitals, blow a hole in state budgets, and kick 13.7 million Americans off their health insurance.
AI is revolutionizing all aspects of our lives but it can cause great harm without any guardrails. Amidst Congressional inaction, states stepped up to regulate AI to protect our privacy and public safety, while House Republicans voted to stop them. I joined @energycommerce.bsky.social to fight back.
Statement from New Dem Agriculture Committee members Reps. Angie Craig, Nikki Budzinski, Kristen McDonald Rivet, Jim Costa, Sharice Davids, Andrea Salinas, Eugene Vindman, April McClain Delaney, Gabe Vasquez, Shontel Brown, & Jahana Hayes on House Republicans' efforts to rip away food assistance.
I offered an amendment to the Republican funding bill to ensure that spectrum auction proceeds benefit the public — not line the pockets of government officials or their families — and that the FCC doesn’t abuse its power. @energycommerce.bsky.social Democrats voted yes. Republicans voted no.
Americans voted for lower costs, not to strip health insurance away from millions and raise costs for everyone else, but House Republicans' budget bill does just just that. I fought for over 26 hours to keep Republicans from cutting Medicaid to fund tax cuts for the wealthy. This fight isn’t over.
Rep. McClellan at the Energy and Commerce reconciliation markup
I proudly held the line with my fellow @energycommerce.bsky.social Democrats for over 26.5 hours to defend our friends, family, neighbors, and constituents caught in the crosshairs of Republicans’ devastating budget cuts — the largest cuts to Medicaid in history.
After 26 hours and 27 minutes, Energy and Commerce Republicans advanced their bill that will strip 13.7 million people’s health insurance. @energycommerce.bsky.social Democrats fought every step of the way. I’m honored to serve as a voice for the millions who would be impacted. I’m not giving up.
For over 24 hours, Energy & Commerce Committee New Dems fought tirelessly against GOP cuts to healthcare. Statement from New Dems @repgreglandsman.bsky.social, @mcclellan.house.gov, @repscottpeters.bsky.social, @trahan.house.gov, @reptroycarter.bsky.social, & @repfletcher.bsky.social ⬇️
Today, every single @energycommerce.bsky.social Democrat voted to protect Medicaid, Planned Parenthood, and the Affordable Care Act. For 26 hours, our Members fought Republicans' effort to gut reproductive health care. As the GOP forces this bill to the House Floor, our fight continues.
Right now, Energy & Commerce Committee Republicans are trying to force through cuts to Medicaid, "defund" Planned Parenthood, and attack reproductive care. Co-Chairs @degette.house.gov and @pressley.house.gov are proud to join @energycommerce.bsky.social in saying NO WAY. Read our full statement👇
Republicans’ budget bill is the latest attempt to take money out of the American people’s pockets to make a small sliver of wealthy Americans even wealthier. @energycommerce.bsky.social Democrats have fought back for 23 hours.
