Proud to stand with House Democrats to denounce Republicans' budget, which would slash Medicaid coverage for the most vulnerable Delawareans - kids, seniors, people with disabilities, working parents, just to name a few.
Rep. McBride stands with her House Democratic colleagues in a press conference on denouncing House Republicans' budget.
We don’t often think about programs like Medicare and Medicaid - until we need them. That’s how a Delawarean described it who wrote to me about how they developed a tumor and experienced difficulty in securing reliable coverage to remove it. Medicaid quite literally “saved [their] life.”
A quote graphic that reads: ...Never had thought much about Medicaid as it didn’t apply to me…until it did. The program saved my life... -Delaware resident
Danielle from Dover shared how her son’s health changed overnight after going into the hospital for stomach pains. He is now on blood thinners at just 11 years old. Thanks to their Medicaid coverage, Danielle will get to watch her little boy grow up.
A quote graphic that reads: ...1 month after [my son’s] 7th birthday, he went into the hospital for stomach pains and the doctors looked for appendicitis but instead found a blood clot in his renal artery...Thanks to Medicaid, I get to watch my little boy grow up. - Danielle from Dover
Kate from New Castle shared with me how her family needs Medicaid to manage their individual conditions including a collagen mutation and food intake disorder. As Kate put it, “having the continued coverage through Medicaid has meant that we can all keep take our literal lifesaving medication.”

A Lewes resident told me how their private employer doesn't offer insurance & they cannot afford insurance. Medicaid allows for their family to get the necessary medical & therapy appointments they need at a reasonable cost. “It is very simple, without Medicaid, neither of us would have insurance.”

Medicaid is a lifeline to thousands of hardworking Delawareans and their families. In fact, 1 in 4 Delawareans has coverage from Medicaid. But House Republicans' budget would gut Medicare to the tune of $880 billion dollars and tear health coverage away from Delawareans. 🧵
Since taking office, I've been meeting and visiting with Delawareans across our state and have heard their concerns about how what's happening here in Washington is impacting families, workers, seniors, organizations, and our communities.
Supporting our service members and veterans is a sacred responsibility for all of us in elected office. I was proud to join the Delaware National Guard for their annual State of the Guard. At home and abroad, our guardsmen and women stand ready at any moment to protect our state of neighbors.
Yesterday, I visited with the staff and incredible volunteers at a local senior center in Kent County. They provide roughly 190 seniors with meals every single day - thanks to Meals on Wheels. Any freeze on federal grants threatens to end this.
I’m doubling down on that commitment in Congress. I'm committed to defending Medicaid from the Republican majority's proposed cuts and fighting to protect federal funding for health facilities serving vulnerable Delawareans.
And last, but never least! Leaders from all three federally qualified health clinics in Delaware came by to discuss their legislative priorities. I worked with all of them in the General Assembly to ensure that health care was accessible and affordable, and...
Delaware Civil Air Patrol and their cadets came by. CAP is the civilian auxiliary of the US Air Force. Their cadet programs help to establish a workforce pipeline for emergency response to natural disasters and aerospace programs. I was so impressed by these cadets and their service to our state.
