DC's Union Station is a vital transportation hub, historically welcoming more travelers/day than DCA or Dulles, but hasn't been renovated since the 1980s.
I questioned Transportation Sec. Duffy today about the admin's position on the Union Station Expansion Project & how it plans to carry it out.

Happy 235th Birthday, DC!
On 7/16/1790 the permanent location of our nation’s capital was established when the Residence Act became law.
Fun Fact: James Madison was one of the first advocates for DC home rule. DC residents have been fighting for local autonomy for 200+ years.
Like every other jurisdiction in the US, DC should be free to set its own local land-use policies.
I introduced my bill to allow DC to appoint all members of the DC Board of Zoning Adjustment.

My bill authorizing a memorial for women who worked on the home front during WWII, inspired by then 10-year old constituent Raya Kenney, was made law in 2022 — but the story started long before and continues even today.

On this date in 1868 the 14th Amendment was ratified, declaring all Americans worthy of equal protection.
I worked to ensure it applied to everybody in the Civil Rights movement.
In Congress I've stood for full equality for DC residents, which only #DCStatehood can confer.
I've heard from constituents concerned that the "Big Beautiful Bill" passed last week cut DCTAG – it didn't.
Although the president's fiscal year 2026 budget did propose eliminating funding for DCTAG, rest assured that I'll do everything in my power to defend the program.
Extreme heat is especially dangerous for those who work outdoors, and DC is no stranger to extreme heat.
Whether you’re outside for work or for leisure, please take steps to protect yourself.
It is ironic that D.C. experiences taxation without representation, which happens to be one of the main reasons our nation declared independence from Britain. MORE: bit.ly/44q4aHK
"Godfather of Go-Go" Chuck Brown loved DC. He gifted DC with its signature musical sound and embraced the cause of #DCStatehood, performing a historic concert in 2010 at the Capitol.
I introduced a bill to rename a post office in NE after him.

Since January we've witnessed attempt after attempt to destroy the ability of federal agencies to deliver services to the public.
We cannot allow President Trump and the so-called Department of Government Efficiency to do the same to the Postal Service.
The Trump Administration is gutting the civil service because they won't blindly break the law on President Trump’s behalf.
If we want to fight waste, fraud and abuse in the federal government, the best cut we can make is the Department of Government Efficiency itself.
Federal workers ensure:
✅Social Security checks go out on time
✅ Veterans get health care
✅ Drinking water is uncontaminated
✅ Planes land safely
Their work is critical to our government and making sure people, families and communities get the services they need.
Federal workers are essential not just to the fabric of the District of Columbia, but to the functioning of the federal government and, in turn, to the well-being of every American.
I'll defend them in today's DOGE hearing.

Roe fell three years ago today.
Without the protections of Roe or #DCStatehood, women in DC are uniquely vulnerable to members of Congress from other districts obstructing their access to reproductive health care.
As ranking member of the Subcommittee on Highways & Transit, I wrote GAO requesting a study on railway noise pollution, which can cause structural damage and negative health effects.
If there are viable ways to mitigate these harms, we should find and implement them.
The DC Zoning Commission consists of two federal officials -- even though it has no authority over federal property.
I introduced a bill today to put the commission entirely in DC's hands.

Today is World Refugee Day. I am an original cosponsor of the Lady Liberty Act of 2025, which would require the admission of at least 125K refugees a year. I will continue to work with colleagues in the House and Senate to welcome and support refugees.
No one should be excluded from jury service due to sexual orientation or gender identity, so during #PrideMonth I introduced my bill to clarify that for DC residents at the DC Superior Court. Only Congress can amend the DC Code provision on the courts. MORE: bit.ly/4kQGW4F
Last week I was honored to receive an award from the Alliance for Nuclear Accountability for my work to eliminate nuclear weapons.
I will continue to fight to eliminate nuclear weapons worldwide, including by passing my bill, the Nuclear Weapons Abolition and Conversion Act.
