The Trump Administration is gutting the civil service because they won't blindly break the law on President Trump’s behalf.
If we want to fight waste, fraud and abuse in the federal government, the best cut we can make is the Department of Government Efficiency itself.

Federal workers ensure:
✅Social Security checks go out on time
✅ Veterans get health care
✅ Drinking water is uncontaminated
✅ Planes land safely
Their work is critical to our government and making sure people, families and communities get the services they need.
Federal workers are essential not just to the fabric of the District of Columbia, but to the functioning of the federal government and, in turn, to the well-being of every American.
I'll defend them in today's DOGE hearing.

Roe fell three years ago today.
Without the protections of Roe or #DCStatehood, women in DC are uniquely vulnerable to members of Congress from other districts obstructing their access to reproductive health care.
As ranking member of the Subcommittee on Highways & Transit, I wrote GAO requesting a study on railway noise pollution, which can cause structural damage and negative health effects.
If there are viable ways to mitigate these harms, we should find and implement them.
The DC Zoning Commission consists of two federal officials -- even though it has no authority over federal property.
I introduced a bill today to put the commission entirely in DC's hands.

Today is World Refugee Day. I am an original cosponsor of the Lady Liberty Act of 2025, which would require the admission of at least 125K refugees a year. I will continue to work with colleagues in the House and Senate to welcome and support refugees.
No one should be excluded from jury service due to sexual orientation or gender identity, so during #PrideMonth I introduced my bill to clarify that for DC residents at the DC Superior Court. Only Congress can amend the DC Code provision on the courts. MORE: bit.ly/4kQGW4F
Last week I was honored to receive an award from the Alliance for Nuclear Accountability for my work to eliminate nuclear weapons.
I will continue to fight to eliminate nuclear weapons worldwide, including by passing my bill, the Nuclear Weapons Abolition and Conversion Act.

I’ve long been known as DC's Warrior on the Hill.
As in 2021, when I got the House to pass the #DCStatehood bill for the second time in history, DC has a warrior in Congress who not only fights back – I enjoy fighting back.
Ahead of Flag Day, I introduced my bill to allow the president to order the flag flown at half-staff in the event of the DC mayor's death, the same gesture of respect that governors of states receive.

Trump's longstanding wish for a performative military parade is coming true on his birthday.
His wish comes at the literal expense of DC, which will shoulder the cost of repairing damage to the roads and the inconvenience of widespread road closures.
Congratulations to Megan Duncan, a junior at Georgetown Visitation and winner of my office's Congressional Art Competition this year!
Her depiction of a room with a view of the mountains of Patagonia will hang in the Capitol for a year.
If Republicans cared about DC residents or democracy, they'd immediately take up my #DCStatehood bill.
Instead they continue to meddle in local DC's affairs, as with the anti-home rule bill the House passed today.

Another day, another attack on DC home rule by Republicans.
Today I spoke on the floor against a bill to require DC to comply with immigration detainers.
I will always defend DC home rule.
The article the NYT published this morning has substantial factual inaccuracies and misleading characterizations that I'm working to get corrected.
Significant portions of the story containing falsehoods have already been updated.
DC, your Warrior on the Hill is fighting.
I'll speak on the House floor today opposing Rep. Higgins' anti-DC home rule bill that the House is voting on today.
Watch at approx. 2:15 at live.house.gov.
Once again, House Republicans have used countless hours of their offices’ time that rightly belongs to their own constituents to try to repeal local DC laws, and they’ll waste even more tomorrow.
