A group of DC residents was on Capitol Hill yesterday emphasizing the urgency of passing a standalone bill to fix DC’s treatment in the CR, which would force DC to cut a projected $1B halfway through the fiscal year.
Thank you for your support!

The House must take up the Senate-passed bill to correct the treatment of DC as a federal agency in the CR. DC is not a federal agency.
DC's local funds should not be regulated by officials DC residents didn't elect.
I'll be on Fox 5 DC tonight discussing the status of the Senate-passed bill to fix an issue the continuing resolution imposed on DC, which would cost DC $1 billion+ halfway through its fiscal year. The House must pass this corrective bill.
Watch in the 5:00 pm hour.
Today on #WorldDownSyndromeDay, I renew my call to pass my bill to remove the R word from Title 11 of the DC Code and replace it with more respectful terminology.
I will keep fighting for people with Down syndrome like my beloved daughter, Katherine.

Thank you to my former intern & current US Senator, Angela Alsobrooks, for fighting for DC in the Senate.

Thank you to DC’s allies in the Senate who worked to highlight and fix the intentional act of fiscal sabotage House Republicans committed against DC in the CR, particularly Senator Alsobrooks, who filed an amendment to fix the issue.

The House-passed CR amounts to nothing less than an act of fiscal sabotage against DC and is an abuse of power over a disenfranchised jurisdiction—the consequences be damned.
I'll do everything in my power to prevent its passage in the Senate.

Salary transparency is an important tool to combat the gender and race pay gaps. I introduced my bill to require employers to provide the salary range for jobs in ads, interviews, and to existing employees.

I released my remarks ahead of speaking on the House floor today opposing the CR, which amounts to nothing less than fiscal sabotage of DC – the consequences be damned.

I'll host a press conference at 3:30 pm today at House Triangle to push back against the House Republican CR, which amounts to nothing less than fiscal sabotage of DC.
Also in attendance: @mayorbowser.bsky.social, @chmnmendelson.bsky.social, and @councilofdc.bsky.social.
After House Republicans, who were not elected by DC residents, released a CR that would force DC to make a projected $1B in cuts to local spending, including to DC police and schools, I filed an amendment to correct this potentially catastrophic issue.

I strongly oppose the relocation of federal agencies, which would harm agency operations and waste taxpayer dollars.
On Monday I introduced a bill to prohibit such relocations, and yesterday I spoke about the issue in a @transportdems.bsky.social subcommittee hearing.
I introduced my bill urging the US to sign the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, dismantle our existing nuclear weapons, and redirect their funding to health care, housing and addressing the climate crisis.

DC’s own Raya Kenney was featured in the film “Women of World War II: The Untold Stories.”
Raya inspired my bill to authorize a memorial honoring women who worked on the home front in WWII, signed into law in 2023.
