DC’s own Raya Kenney was featured in the film “Women of World War II: The Untold Stories.”
Raya inspired my bill to authorize a memorial honoring women who worked on the home front in WWII, signed into law in 2023.

The Trump admin's war against federal employees includes plans to relocate agencies outside the National Capital Region.
From experience, we know this would mean losing seasoned federal workers and a decline in the services Americans rely on.
I'm fighting back.

After two recent alarming security failures and reports that DOGE employees are sharing sensitive gov information via insecure channels, I joined the Oversight DOGE Subcommittee Democrats and @SenWarren in opening an investigation.

Most federal and state courts allow people 70+ to opt out of jury service.
I introduced a bill to allow the same option for DC residents summoned by the DC Superior Court.
Only Congress can amend the title of the DC Code governing the DC courts.

After the midair collision near DCA that killed 67 people, I wrote DoD to urge that they permanently cease helicopter flights for most VIPs in the National Capital Region.
The convenience of gov officials should not take precedence over safety.

President Trump’s call for a federal takeover of DC is anti-democratic, based on falsehoods, and patronizing to more than 700,000 residents.
It’s also evidence of our historic progress toward #DCStatehood

After receiving conflicting information on DoD's policy re: aircraft transponder use in the National Capital Region, I wrote DoD for clarification.
The transponders are a critical tool to communicate navigational system problems to control towers and other aircraft.

Although Frederick Douglass didn’t know his actual birthday, he celebrated it on Valentine’s Day.
My #DCStatehood bill would name our 51st state "Washington, Douglass Commonwealth" to honor his work on equal rights for DC.

Trump's recent EO to cut federal employees, limit hiring, and install a DOGE "Team Lead" at each agency is dangerous, unlawful, and harmful to all Americans.

Federal employees deserve praise for their expertise, dedication and service, not denigration.
Head to my website for information about organizations dedicated to assisting our diligent federal workers as they face unprecedented attacks.

DC provides state, county, and city-level services for its residents, who pay full federal taxes.
I introduced my bill to ensure DC is treated fairly by making it eligible for the federal funding that goes to each of these levels of government.

The tragic crash at DCA must be carefully investigated and the American public deserves answers regarding how this happened. My colleagues and I are pressing the FAA for answers and confirmation that the investigation will be free from any political interference.
A Sen from UT and a Rep from TN have introduced bills to repeal #DCHomeRule, which would deprive DC of a local government.
As when they were previously introduced, I will defeat these antidemocratic bills. #DCstatehood

During Black History Month, Senator Cory Booker and I introduced our bill to award a Congressional Gold Medal to the approx. 200K African American troops who served with the Union in the Civil War.
