As we are denied our own vote in Congress, DC residents are natural allies in the fight for equal representation. Yesterday’s outrageous SCOTUS decision only strengthens our resolve.   Congress must pass the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act and restore real voting protections for all.
Congratulations to DC’s Congressional Art Competition winners!   🥇Max William Padilla, School Without Walls, “A Sunday’s Morning” 🥈Sophia Grossman, Holton-Arms, “A Practice in Patience” 🥉Katia Rodriguez, Capitol City Public Charter School, “Ballet Dancers”   Max’s art will be hung in the Capitol.
A federal court blocked NPS from removing the 15th St bike lanes, citing a failure to address data showing a 91% drop in bike injuries. The opinion highlights the letter my colleagues and I sent opposing the removal.   It's a win for DC & sustainable transit.
Congratulations to @waba.org for stalling the feds attempt to remove the 15th St bike lanes on the National Mall!
Dr Gubad Ibadoghlu, father of one of my constituents, is an Azerbaijani activist who’s been imprisoned by the Azerbaijani gov for 1,001 days. According to Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International, he’s being denied proper medical treatment. I urge Sec. Rubio to secure his release immediately.
The Potomac River was named America's most endangered river for 2026. The Potomac is DC’s sole drinking water source, unlike other metro areas which have a backup. Congress must increase investments in wastewater infrastructure & identify a secondary water source for the nation’s capital.
The Potomac River tops the list of most endangered rivers in the country, according to a newly released report that cites the impacts of a recent sewage spill and data centers in the region. https://wapo.st/4tTS05c
Inspectors general play a key role in detecting and preventing the fraud Republicans claim they want to root out, yet the Trump admin has fired 19 IGs. I'll highlight this glaring inconsistency in today's Gov Ops Subcommittee hearing, happening now.   bit.ly/4sD9CRH
A safe water supply is vital to the environment, National Security, and the stability of daily operations in DC, yet the President's budget proposes $0 to fund DC Waters’ Clean Rivers Project.   I secured $8m in funding the last time he tried this, and I'll fight to fund this program again in FY27.
President Trump’s proposed budget is a perfect encapsulation of his priorities. Cuts to programs that help Americans afford their groceries, energy bills, & rent. More funding for his war with Iran and mass deportations. This budget puts the President’s ego first and Americans last.
The President's FY ‘27 budget proposal would zero out funding for DCTAG, which makes up the difference between in-state and out-of-state tuition for DC residents attending state schools.   There's no justification for attacking DC students' futures. I'll fight to protect DCTAG.
President Donald Trump has proposed boosting defense spending to $1.5 trillion in his 2027 budget released Friday, the largest such request in decades, reflecting his emphasis on U.S. military investments over domestic programs.
