As a proud @reprocaucus.bsky.social member, I’m fighting to make sure you, not politicians, are able to make decisions about your life, your health, and your body.
Today marks four years since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade and eliminated the constitutional right to abortion. Republicans in Congress know that the rich and powerful will always be able to get the healthcare they want and need—they just don’t want you to have it.
Just before he was supposed to sign the historic ROAD to Housing bill, Trump chose to double-down on the SAVE Act—which even Mitch McConnell knows is a voter suppression hack.   Months before the midterms, Trump would rather censor voters than solve our housing crisis.
wow -- Trump is crashing out: "Today’s Housing News Conference and Signing is hereby cancelled until such time as we pass the desperately needed SAVE AMERICA ACT, which I consider to be a National Emergency. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DJT"
cap of Trump TS post
Chicago doesn't want the National Guard, Chicago doesn't need the National Guard. We've seen what happens when Trump "helps" & it only leads to more fear and violence. If Trump actually wants to help, he should support commonsense gun legislation at the federal level to keep guns off our streets.
We need to pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Act to establish nationwide laws ending gerrymandering and expand access to the ballot box for everyone.
This spring, the Supreme Court overturned the Voting Rights Act—letting partisan state legislatures pick and choose their voters. We're already seeing the consequences. States are redrawing their election maps and diluting the voting power of people of color, particularly Black voters.
The Senate just passed the bipartisan 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act! This bill will lower costs and reduce barriers to building new homes. Now, we need the House to pass it as well. We have a historic opportunity to come together and fight the housing crisis. Let's take it!
As the Director of National Intelligence, Gabbard dismantled the Foreign Malign Influence Center which tracked these threats. With MAGA loyalist Bill Pulte now in charge, Americans have every right to ask if our election security is intentionally being weakened as we get closer to the midterms.
The real threat to our elections is from foreign interference from countries like Russia and China. So why is the Trump administration dismantling the very offices tasked with detecting and exposing foreign malign influence?
I’m grateful for the Chicago Police Department’s response, and I urge them to swiftly find and arrest those responsible. We must deliver justice for the victims AND close the gun loopholes that allow these criminals to get through.
My bill, the TRACE Act, would prevent violent criminals from obtaining firearms by establishing a national tracking system for black market guns. Illinois has gun tracking laws at the state level, but there is no federal law stopping perpetrators from buying guns in nearby states and coming here.
Acts of mass violence like these remind us that Americans deserve more than thoughts from their elected officials—they deserve action. As members of Congress, my colleagues and I need to do everything we can to stop these tragedies from happening again.
From hate-motivated funding cuts to hostile immigration tactics, this administration has repeatedly harmed Latino and Hispanic communities. I’m proud to stand with teams like HACIA and fight for them.
I recently got to meet with the Hispanic American Construction Industry Association. They shared with me how the Trump administration's relentless cuts, particularly on programs that uplift minority communities, have made it difficult for HACIA to get support.
This week, I stopped by the @lpzoo.org and spoke with some of their second- and third-grade summer campers.  As a Co-Chair of both the Zoo and Aquarium Caucus and the Animal Protection Caucus, I'm working to preserve our wildlife and their habitats.
Happy Juneteenth! On June 19th, 1865, news of the Emancipation Proclamation reached the last enslaved Black Americans in Galveston, Texas. To this day, Juneteenth is the only federal holiday that recognizes the end of slavery in the United States.
I'm excited to see that FOUR piping plovers have hatched on Montrose Beach! I'm working to defend historic legislation like the Endangered Species Act to protect and grow the population of piping plovers and many other endangered species🐦‍⬛
I got to join Alderwoman Manaa-Hoppenworth in seeing the Rizal Community Center’s new mural. Led by Aurora artist Michael Del Valle with help from the Sinag team, this art installation celebrates our Filipino community by honoring the Filipino Americans who have helped build our city.
