72 years later, the promise of Brown v. Board of Education remains unfinished.
We still have work to do to fully integrate schools and achieve equity in education.

Across this country, more than 100 million workers wake up every day not knowing whether they can afford to care for themselves or a loved one without risking their paycheck or their job.
Congress must finally pass the FAMILY Act to establish a national paid leave program.

Right now, Americans are struggling in an economy that isn't working for them.
Instead of addressing real issues, Committee Republicans are marking up bills that put culture wars in classrooms and roll back worker protections. Democrats are fighting back. www.youtube.com/watch?v=o_KS...
Workers across Virginia finally have access to paid sick leave and will not have to choose between their health and making ends meet.
This is not only a major win for workers and their families, but also for businesses that depend on healthy employees.

Combatting hate is a moral imperative. Unequal treatment leads to unequal outcomes, especially in health care.
Democrats remain committed to pursuing real solutions to expand access to affordable, high quality care.

Good to attend the Virginia Peninsula Chamber’s State of the Military event and discuss the critical role our servicemembers and local military installations play in strengthening our national security and the Hampton Roads economy.
The RISE rule eliminates affordable repayment options for millions of borrowers and will limit students' opportunities.
I led a letter with nearly 90 colleagues opposing it, and I'll fight in Congress to repeal it.

My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their loved ones.
We must do everything possible to end gun violence, Islamophobia, and all forms of hate.
The Workforce Pell final rule could expand access to short-term workforce training, helping Americans gain in-demand skills, and access greater economic opportunity.
Strong oversight and accountability will be critical to ensure high-quality programs.

RM @bobbyscott.house.gov is sounding the alarm over HHS's refusal to cooperate with an investigation into DOGE's access to sensitive data.
HHS claims it won't cooperate due to 'potential discrepancies' between what it shared in litigation vs. what it shares with the investigation.
The weather was perfect for a visit to the Norfolk Greek Festival
I enjoyed catching up with old friends and visiting with constituents
I had the pleasure of attending the Rededication Ceremony for the Armed Forces Memorial Monument, which honors the contributions of veterans across all service branches of our military
Originally located at Military Circle Mall, the monument was relocated near Town Point Park
Had a great time participating in the Inside Politics Forum, hosted by the Black BRAND
The event brought together the small business community and elected officials from all levels of government to discuss public policy and the region’s economic landscape
Congratulations to the scholars who were honored today at the 200+ Men Scholars Breakfast
The annual event recognizes African American high school males from the region’s public and private schools who are graduating with a 3.0 or better GPA
I was happy to give remarks today at the Hampton Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta 2nd Annual Medical and Mental Health Wellness Fair, where resources were available to assist with preventative screenings, chronic disease management and mental health services

After months of ICE raids in schools, students and families need real support to deal with the trauma it has created.
Ranking Member @bobbyscott.house.gov asked Secretary McMahon what the Department of Education is doing to address this mental health crisis.
The answer is nothing.
I spoke with @blackvirginianews.bsky.social about voting rights and the Virginia Supreme Court’s decision on redistricting. Listen to the full podcast at the link below.

WATCH LIVE: ED Secretary McMahon testifies before the House Committee on Education and Workforce.
Under her leadership, she has dismantled ED at the expense of students and families. Today, Committee Democrats will defend the future of public education.
