Today @repyassansari.bsky.social and I announced $2.6 million for ASU's new Center for Heat Preparedness.
Extreme heat kills more Americans than hurricanes, floods, and tornadoes combined. This new center will help student and faculty researchers turn data into action for AZ communities.

When Rep. Grijalva, @repgregstanton.bsky.social, and I made an unplanned visit to Mesa Gateway Airport, we saw 40-50 people packed like sardines for days—in inhumane conditions.
Our bill sets a 12-hour limit on ICE detention and brings real accountability.
139 people died in the crisis, and Administrator Richardson and Secretary Noem were more focused on covering their asses than stopping future preventable deaths.
We need accountability and reform now.
During the devastating Texas floods last year, FEMA didn't answer most of the calls made for help. One day, 84% went unanswered.
FEMA Administrator Richardson lied under oath when he told Congress the "vast majority" of calls were answered.
Affordability is the number one issue for Arizonans — and the @newdems.bsky.social has a real plan to address it.
This week, I welcomed @mcbride.house.gov to Tempe to discuss how families are struggling with the cost of living and our agenda to bring down prices.
At our affordability roundtable in Tempe, @mcbride.house.gov said it perfectly: expanding access to family care is a win-win-win.
I’ll keep fighting in Congress to return every dollar he’s stolen from American families and small businesses.
Finally, a step in the right direction.
Last month I called on the Interior Department to release nearly $500 million in dedicated drought funding to support Colorado River conservation. This week they finally announced plans to do so, allowing Arizona to keep leading the way on conservation.
Thanks for having us UFCW Local 99, Worker Power, Teamsters Local 104, Arizona Education Association, UNITE HERE Local 11, AFSCME Arizona, and Alliance for Retired Americans AZ. See less
It was great to host @whipkclark.bsky.social for an important conversation with Arizona labor leaders about how we can better support and promote women in the workforce.
Strong labor and family policies will grow our economy.
Dick Mallery was a driving force behind the development of the Phoenix Biosciences Campus and the successful recruitment of TGen. He lived a life in service to our city and he will be greatly missed.

Trump's budget would slash funding for K-12 schools by billions of dollars and eliminate crucial programs for vulnerable students.
I met with @neatoday.bsky.social Arizona to discuss how we can fight back and support students in need across the state.
Federal researchers should be able to focus on science, not politics. We need to restore reproductive freedom and end this assault on our health infrastructure now.
Louisiana is trying to restrict access to mifepristone nationwide — even in states where abortion is legal.
I joined over 250+ congressional Democrats calling on the Supreme Court to reject this partisan assault on reproductive health and attempt to politicize the FDA.
Orgs like Native Americans for Community Action, Native Health, NAC Phoenix, & the National Council of Urban Indian Health are on the front lines delivering healthcare to Native communities in AZ.
We had a productive discussion on how we can move forward together. Thanks for all you're doing!
This year's Congressional Art Competition brought out incredible talent from across AZ-04.
Congratulations to this year's first place winner Dahlia from Marcos de Niza High School, whose painting "The Pumpkin Patch" will be on display in the U.S. Capitol later this year. Well done, Dahlia! 🎨
I'm keeping these families in my thoughts today — especially the family of Emily Pike, the 14-year-old San Carlos Apache girl murdered last year whose case remains unsolved.
Today is the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls.
Behind every unsolved case is a name, a family, and a community that never stopped searching.
¡Feliz Cinco de Mayo!
Today we celebrate the resilience and pride of Mexican Americans — and the spirit of the Battle of Puebla that has inspired communities across Arizona ever since.
