That is why it was so humbling to present the station owner, R.J. Watkins, with a congressional proclamation recognizing his lifetime of achievements in local broadcasting! Thank you to show host, Darwin Griffin, and Kermit Williams for having me on and making me feel so welcome.

Today, I had the unbelievable honor of joining the Truth to Power TV show to have a long-form discussion about how I view my role in Congress and what people can do to address injustice. We must continue to say the words and speak the policies of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Beyond relieved to see Arbel, Agam, Gadi, Thenna, Sathian, Sriaoun, Seathao, and Rumnao released after 481 of captivity in Gaza at the hands of terrorists.
As they begin their reentry journey, I hope they find the healing and peace they so deserve.

Thank you to the first responders for their quick response. As we await a full investigation, thank you also to the airport teams, aircrews, and FAA controllers continuing to keep our skies open and safe.
My heart is with the families of the passengers and crew on the two aircraft involved in last night’s horrific collision in Washington, D.C.
The incredible leaders at the K-12 Alliance which includes school superintendents I have been working with for years to implement and fully fund IDEA brought us together once again today for a virtual press conference to remind us what’s at stake. Thank you!
This year marks the 50th Anniversary of the passage of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, which guarantees free, appropriate public education to every child with a disability.
Happy Lunar Year to those in the MI-11 District celebrating today! May this year be prosperous and joyful for all!
Great to join Mayor Pro Tem of Oak Park Shaun Whitehead & Deputy Secretary of State Aghogho Edvebie at the Oak Park Public Library for a lecture on the contribution of African Americans to automotive manufacturing & entrepreneurship. Wonderful to learn more about this consequential history together!
Coming jobs reports, the first of which will be out February 7th, will be incredibly telling about the impacts of President Trump’s drastic actions in his first half month in office.
I hope America will continue our streak of growth, but time will tell…
Under President Joe Biden, the number of jobs in the U.S. economy grew EVERY SINGLE MONTH.
I’m taking everything I learned back to Washington to ensure our communities get the funding Congress allocated and continue pushing for legislation like my Healthy Affordable Housing Act, because every family deserves a safe, secure place to live.
Joined local housing leaders for a thoughtful discussion on the housing needs in Oakland County today. It was an important conversation.
Gave an update on what’s happening in Washington to the Berkley City Council meeting last night. We talked trade, manufacturing, and what I’m doing to make sure this beautiful city has what they need for their residents to thrive.
Congress has the Constitutional power of the purse. Congress, not the President, makes laws and appropriates the funds. Stopping the disbursement of Congressionally-approved funds is unconstitutional and not the checks and balances our framers’ intended.
These unconstitutional and illegal orders will impact our economy and the first jobs report will show the unfortunate ramifications of these actions.
Through the outreach I am receiving, the fears of job loss and the potential impacts on communities and those in need are palpable.
Over the past week, President Trump has tried to flood the zone and enact unconstitutional and illegal changes to our government by pausing funding and firing nonpartisan civil servants who provide the services and oversight Americans rely on.
We can #neveragain allow the horrors of the Holocaust to be repeated and that is why I recently joined some of my colleagues in the House to introduce the HEAL Act to ensure that every American student learns this critical history.
Attending the moving remembrance today at the Zekelman Holocaust Center in Farmington Hills where survivor, Rae Nachbar, shared her story was a fitting way to remember the lives lost and the incredible tenacity of those who survived.
