Sec. Granholm is 100% right. Pretending it’s 1950 means America doesn’t win the 21st century competition for energy, quality jobs & innovative mobility solutions. We can’t abandon good industrial policy, otherwise we are ceding the energy future to China.

Let’s hope this is just bluster and rhetoric. Let’s hope there’s a better plan. But no matter what, I will always use my voice and my vote to support policies that help Michigan workers and families.
It’s not good policy and doesn’t make us more competitive with China, we need strategic restrictions and smart investment to help bring down costs and ensure that our workers keep making tomorrow’s technology & products, and that we can sell American cars in markets around the world.
It would make it significantly harder for Michigan’s auto suppliers to compete in the global economy.
My thoughts on proposed 25% tariffs, a thread 🧵:
Blanket tariffs on our neighbors and trading partners would severely damage Michigan’s economy. It would jack up costs for MI-11 families on everything from tomatoes to gas.
Birthright citizenship is a right, protected by the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
An executive order cannot change the Constitution.
Thank you to Michigan’s great Attorney General Nessel for leading the way and protecting the rights of every Michigander.

As we commemorate Dr. King's legacy, we must stand together, move forward in justice, and seek beloved community.
I stand in solidarity with those hurting, those in fear, and those seeking a better future for all Americans.
Together, we rise through community, connection, and love.
Let the news flow in!!! Romi, Emily, and Doran have been released to the Red Cross. It is a glorious day to see Romi, Emily, and Doran make their way home after 16 months in captivity. We will not rest until all hostages are back! God love the innocent!
The CHIPS and Science Act I helped write and pass has unlocked nearly $450 billion in private capital investment in America’s future! Thanks to President Joe Biden, we’re building semiconductors here at home.
31 bills written & introduced, 1300+ cases resolved, 19 Manufacturing Mondays, more than $4 million returned to MI-11 families! 2024 was a banner year!

Every year they play a critical role in Pontiac’s Holiday Extravaganza getting everyone lined up for the parade & making sure older folks have a warm place to go if they need. They are an integral part of our Oakland County Community, and I salute their service.
It was an honor to celebrate the men and women of the 1775th Military Police Company, of the Michigan National Guard, not only for their service to our nation but their volunteerism!
I’m feeling motivated and ever so committed to continue delivering for Oakland County in the 119th Congress!
My former colleague, Rep. Brenda Lawrence, spoke; my friend, Rev. Dr. Patricia Coleman Burns, delivered the invocation; the estimable Judge Shalina Kumar administered the oath; and a talented Walled Lake High School senior sang the national anthem.
Today, I was ceremonially sworn in for my fourth term as the Michigan 11th District’s federal representative in the Congress at Walled Lake Western High School! It was a wonderful demonstration of the power of community.
I’ve been coming to the auto show every year for years and am always impressed by the products our OEMs and suppliers are bringing to the world - a safer, more efficient, and super stylish mobility future is being brainstormed and built right here in Southeast Michigan!🚗🚗🚗
Amazing to see all the innovation on display at this year’s Detroit Auto Show alongside my colleagues Senator Gary Peters, Senator Elissa Slotkin, and Rep. Hillary Scholten!
In America, no one is above the rule of law.
Devastating to learn of the death of two more hostages at the hands of Hamas in the tunnels of Gaza. My thoughts are with the Ziyadne family during this horrific time.

Alignment stats consider only votes where a clear yes/no majority existed for the legislator's party. Cross-party marks divergence where the vote matched the opposite party majority. ↔ indicates cross-party divergence.
