Had such a great time at Love Cafe for lunch today! This new restaurant is pay-what-you-can, with fresh ingredients and job skill training at the heart of its mission — what an incredible addition to our community!
Glad to meet with state leaders from Muskegon and Ottawa Counties. We had a productive meeting this morning to share our priorities and discuss how we can continue to deliver for our community at every level.
Such a meaningful celebration this morning with members of United Way and West Michiganders to honor the 50th anniversary of the Earned Income Tax Credit. Together, with partners like United Way, our community is creating a future where everyone can thrive.
My team and I will receive an initial committee-level briefing later today on the crash and will be locked in on a fact-based assessment and review of what happened to ensure air travel safety once more.
As America is still reeling from the tragedy at DCA, now is the time for calm, steady, and commonsense leadership.
85 years since its first check was issued and Social Security remains a lifeline for millions of Americans. I was proud to cosponsor the Social Security Fairness Act, which has since become law, & I'll keep fighting to ensure West Michiganders receive the benefits they’ve worked a lifetime to earn.
West Michigan is leading the way in aerospace innovation with companies like GE Aerospace, which boasts two aerospace manufacturing facilities in MI-03. I toured their Grand Rapids facility to hear more about their efforts to create jobs and keep us on the cutting edge of manufacturing.
Make no mistake: House Republicans spent the past few days at Trump’s golf resort in Florida to finalize a plan to punish hardworking American taxpayers while providing huge new tax breaks for billionaire donors. I’m keeping my eyes wide open and will never stop fighting for MI-03.
It’s tax season, West Michigan. Visit michigan.gov/taxes/efile/iit/efile-for-free to see if you qualify to e-file your taxes for free, and reach out to my office if you have issues with the IRS or a tax return. Happy filing!
We still have no clear guidance from President Trump on the federal freeze he and his team instituted.
Our neighbors — seniors, veterans, children, and the sick — are left without answers. This abuse of power only hurts the American people. thehill.com/homenews/adm...
Manufacturing is still a huge part of our culture and community here in MI-03, and I’m working hard to keep bringing good-paying manufacturing jobs to West Michigan. Great to tour Automatic Spring Manufacturing today to learn more about their priorities for 2025.
Wishing a very Happy Lunar New Year to everyone celebrating in MI-03 and beyond! May your celebrations be meaningful, and the year ahead rewarding for you and your loved ones.
This is welcome news for millions of Americans, but it shouldn’t have had to come to this. I urge the Trump administration to rethink this disastrous decision — children, seniors, and veterans should not be harmed to prove a political point. apnews.com/article/dona...
In my first term, I was grateful for his partnership in getting my bill to rename the Comstock Park Post Office after Captain Miguel Nava signed into law. I look forward to more work for our state and our neighbors in the next two years!
Wow, what a surprise and an immense loss for Michigan! We are not even close to saying goodbye yet, but I'll take every opportunity I can to say THANK YOU Senator Gary Peters for your lifetime of service to Michigan. You are a true Lion. 🧵
This type of action comes from a place of not knowing what's broken and how to fix it—of chaos and incompetence. It makes America weaker and poorer, not stronger and richer.
We need to address the budget and spending, but a reckless pause like this one—on ALL domestic and foreign assistances threatens children, the elderly, our farmers planning every day for the spring, and our national security.
FYI: West Michigan, this is an informative read as our law enforcement officers navigate President Trump’s first few days in office.
Team Scholten continues to monitor the president’s policies, and West Michiganders remain our top priority and the core of what we do everyday.
On International Holocaust Remembrance Day, we remember the over six million people who were killed during the Holocaust.
As we honor them, we must continue our fight against antisemitism and hate to ensure that the horrors of the Holocaust are never minimized or forgotten. #NeverAgain
Water IS life, and I’m thrilled to continue advocating for clean water and waterways for it on @transportdems.bsky.social as Vice Ranking Member of the Water Resources and Environment Subcommittee.
We won’t leave Americans high and dry, time to ride the wave!🌊
