Happy Lunar New Year to all our ʻohana in Hawaiʻi and around the world! As we step into the Year of the Snake, let’s take this special time to honor the rich cultural traditions that bring us together. May the year ahead bring personal growth, peace, and prosperity to each of us!
Mahalo to Catherine Cruz at Hawaiʻi Public Radio for having me on to discuss everything from military housing, local projects, & the situation with the federal aid freeze. I'm committed to ensuring that regardless of who's President, our people have the resources they were promised.
More than 50 percent of the physicians licensed in Hawaiʻi don't live here. We must find ways to draw them back to the islands and help keep our communities healthy and alive. Mahalo to our healthcare leaders for meeting & updating me on how I can best support this effort!
Honored to install the incoming board at the 2025 Japanese Cultural Society of Maui’s Shinnenkai! Mahalo to the outgoing members for their dedication & congrats to the new board. Looking forward to all that you will accomplish to preserve Japanese culture on Maui.
Had a busy morning on Lānaʻi meeting with our veterans & healthcare providers getting updates on what’s happening in the community. Also visited the Lānaʻi Youth Center and Skate Park, ending with a trip to Maui via the ferry ⛴️
Today marks what should've been 52 years of #RoevWade. Since being overturned nearly 3 years ago, too many women have had to travel to another state or be near death before getting healthcare. I am proud to stand with @reprocaucus.bsky.social to restore & protect reproductive freedoms for all.
Always proud to return "home" to the Hawaii Okinawa Center! Shared my resolution commemorating the 125th anniversary of Okinawan immigration to the US & celebrated the 2024 Uchinanchu of the Year and incoming officers. Ippee nifee deebiru to Hawaii United Okinawa Association!
Returned to my state roots! Visited the State Capitol, saw some old friends from my time in the state legislature, and made a couple of new friends, too.
Happy to meet students at Kamaile Academy and assist with their keiki food pantry! Also got a behind-the-scenes tour of their campus and met some of our state's upcoming leaders and professionals. And I couldn't leave the Waianae Coast without stopping to appreciate the view. 📸
Proud that President Biden has affirmed the ERA to be the law of the land, symbolizing an overdue victory for gender equality. But the fight is not over yet and we will not stop until there is equal rights for everyone—no one should be judged or treated unfairly because of their gender.
Hawaiian Telcom ➕ federal, state, & county partners 🟰 $1.7B to turn Hawai‘i into the first fully fiber-enabled state! ✅ Proud to be a part of this initiative. Whether for health, school, or work—all of our ʻohana deserve internet access, regardless of where they live.
Instead of helping children, we'd rather police their identities, limit their freedom, & prevent them from doing something as simple as playing sports. Transgender girls are girls. They deserve the chance to pursue their dreams, just like everyone else.
Proud to share President Biden signed my bill to name Captain Cook post office in honor of Army First Lt. John Kuulei Kauhaihao! I hope this tribute serves as a permanent reminder to Shirley and the rest of Lt. K's ʻohana of his incredible sacrifice & dedication to our community. ♥️
Mahalo to the firefighters & first responders who are fighting tirelessly to contain the situation and save lives. Congress cannot forget those affected by natural disasters, we must provide them the resources & support they need to recover. (2/2)
It was an honor to pay my respects to President Jimmy Carter. He leaves behind a legacy of unparalleled kindness, decency, and commitment to public service. His care for humanity extended beyond our nation—it reached across the world. Mahalo nui loa, President Carter.
It was an honor to join my colleagues at APAICS's Ceremonial Swearing-In for CAPAC members. As Second Vice Chair, I look forward to continue serving our AANPHI communities and ensuring that our diverse needs, voices, and contributions are recognized in Congress. Mahalo!
