Rally tomorrow at the State Department! Marco Rubio must hear our voices demanding that Mohsen Mahdawi is released immediately. Proud to protest with @vanhollen.senate.gov, @raskin.house.gov, @jayapal.house.gov, @frost.house.gov, @pressley.house.gov, and more of my powerhouse colleagues. Join us📢💥
Today, @ocasio-cortez.house.gov and I demanded answers from HHS over the DOGE shutdown of the FDA’s San Juan lab. This lab protects Americans from contaminated drugs, supports our emergency stockpile, safeguards public health, and provides good jobs for PR. Closing it endangers lives.
Arresting Judge Dugan is a dangerous attack on our courts and a blatant abuse of power. Trump is weaponizing the federal government and attacking the rule of law. This is straight out of the authoritarian playbook.
Have questions about your rights as a tenant? Join me tomorrow for a Know Your Rights Workshop covering everything from tenant protections to landlord responsibilities. Date: April 24th, 2025 Time: 6:30 PM, ET Location: Williamsburg Community Center, 196 Graham Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11206
Puerto Rico is set to lose $4.5B by 2026 from tax breaks for wealthy investors, while costs rise & locals are pushed out. My bill will close loopholes for digital assets & end PR’s crypto tax haven status. This bill will help Puerto Ricans shape their own economic future.
New York is on the frontlines of the climate crisis: floods, heatwaves, rising seas. This #EarthDay, let’s commit to bold action: a Green New Deal, clean energy, and justice for all. Our future depends on it.
I join millions around the world in mourning the passing of Pope Francis. His legacy will live in the hearts of all who were touched by his compassion and courage. May he rest in eternal peace.
Proud to be a founding member of the Monopoly Busters Caucus. Corporate monopolies have gutted local economies, crushed small biz, and driven up prices. As the Trump admin works to cut taxes for billionaire, Congress must stand up for workers, consumers, and competition.
As Trump stacks his cabinet with billionaires and tries to pass a $4.5 trillion tax cut for the richest 1%, we need to stand up, fight corporate power, make sure government works for everyone, and WIN. That’s why I’m launching the Monopoly Busters Caucus.
There is no ambiguity. It is illegal to use taxpayer money to pay a foreign country to imprison people. Secretary Rubio owes us answers about this administration's blatant disregard for the law.
The press and the courts are talking—intelligently and powerfully—about every aspect of the Trump administration’s rendition of people to El Salvador **except** the illegal use of taxpayer money to fund the imprisonment. On what authority?!? This letter is great. migrantinsider.com/p/lawmakers-...
Over 83K people in NY-07 rely on Social Security—retirees, disabled workers, spouses, & kids. This week, we rallied in Bushwick for Social Security Day of Action to tell Trump & Musk: hands off Social Security. Thank you to the advocates and neighbors who showed up and spoke out.
Mohsen Mahdawi showed up for his citizenship interview and was instead abducted by ICE. With each arrest targeting students for speech, Trump is chipping away at the First Amendment protections for every American. Mohsen must be released immediately.
My colleagues and I demand answers from Kristi Noem and Marco Rubio about the illegal and inhumane abduction of Mohsen Mahdawi, a permanent legal resident of the United States. The Constitution guarantees people within our borders basic rights, including due process and free speech.
The Trump admin hasn’t accused Mahmoud Khalil of committing a crime. But they’ve labeled his speech a threat and targeted him for deportation. This is a clear 1st Amendment violation. I stand with Mahmoud, and anyone who cares about our constitutional rights should too.
Per his attorneys, Mahmoud Khalil asked to address the court at his immigration hearing today, where a judge gave the green light to the Trump admin to deport him. “This is exactly why the Trump administration has sent me to this court, 1,000 miles away from my family.”
Today, I stood with Jennifer Vasquez Sura. Her husband Kilmar Abrego García, a lawful U.S. resident, father and union worker, was torn from his family and sent to a prison camp in El Salvador. No criminal record. No hearing. No proof. We're fighting to bring him back.
The news out of the Dominican Republic has been heart wrenching. Thinking of the lives lost, the families left behind, and everyone mourning this terrible tragedy. Many in New York are feeling this deeply and we stand with you during this difficult time. apnews.com/article/domi...
The U.S. cannot send people to places where torture is a known risk. Transfers to El Salvador’s CECOT prison violate international law, US law, & our commitment to human rights. Today, @ramirez.house.gov & I wrote to Sec. Rubio demanding answers & a halt to these transfers.
