The question before us now is how did any of this make us safer? How is America better off? How did Congressional Republicans allow this unhinged, warmonger President to drag us into this mess in the first place? I intend to demand accountability.
The world now has to pay Iran a fee for every barrel of oil leaving the Middle East. This was not the case before Donald Trump’s warmongering. And it would not be the case today if Donald Trump had chosen diplomacy over war.
Because of Donald Trump’s warmongering 13 Americans have lost their lives. Billions of your taxpayer dollars have been spent on bullets and bombs instead of health care for Americans. And there is STILL no guarantee that Iran will not get a nuclear weapon in the future.
I will not stay silent while our President threatens to commit war crimes in our name. There comes a time when basic humanity transcends partisan politics. To my Republican colleagues: Now is the time to stand up and speak out.
Trump just threatened to wipe out an entire civilization. We cannot let war make us lose sight of our humanity. We cannot forget that Iranian children are children of God too. We cannot allow war crimes to be committed in our name. Congress must act now.
I may be from Savannah, but Atlanta holds a special place in my heart. The cradle of the Civil Rights Movement, the hip-hop capital of the world, and a hub of economic enterprise—Atlanta keeps raising the bar. Happy #404Day, Atlanta!
58 years ago today, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Georgia’s greatest son, was taken from us in a violent act of hate. His legacy lives on in the work we do to build his beloved community and to bend the moral arc of the universe towards justice.
