My statement with @kaine.senate.gov and Governor Youngkin on a classified briefing we just received about the unexplained drone sightings in Virginia.

It is just incredible that Donald Trump has yet to take office and his first presidential maneuver will be shutting down the government.
It’s a sad state of affairs when the richest man in the world can send us straight towards a government shutdown.
He’ll be fine, but a lot of the servicemembers working without paychecks during Christmas won't be.
While billionaires throw the House Republicans into chaos, Americans hurt by natural disasters are still waiting for aid.
We need to get a disaster supplemental done.
THRILLED to see us pass our annual defense bill, which contains a sizable raise for our servicemembers, investments in child care facilities, food security assistance, and more. Glad to support the needs of servicemembers by getting this done.
Heading to the floor soon to speak in defense of our federal workers. The new administration is making some big threats to the independence and the future of the civil service – I’m joining @kaine.senate.gov and going on the offensive to try to get some protections in place.
I’m working across the aisle to get disaster aid done as soon as we can.

Good to hear an update on Helene disaster response from VDEM, FEMA, and law enforcement. I’m fighting tooth and nail to get a robust disaster assistance package passed before the end of the year so we have the resources we need for Virginia’s long term recovery.
Good news! Our legislation to curb hazing on college campuses has passed Congress! One life lost to hazing is too many, so I’m encouraged to see us take steps to combat this tragic practice. www.warner.senate.gov/public/index...
I’m deeply frustrated we still haven’t passed a disaster aid bill for Southwest Virginians.
I’m pushing as hard as I possibly can to get this done, because communities need relief before the end of the year.
Highly recommend everyone listen to today’s episode of The Daily, which is a great explainer into a terrifying hack impacting our telecom providers. I’m doing everything I can to raise the alarm about this attack on our national security.

Cutting red tape makes life easier for Americans and cuts costs down the line. I’m thrilled that my bipartisan bill to ease ACA reporting requirements for employers has passed Congress!

Upgraded, no-emission school buses are coming to Fairfax, Henrico, and Roanoke public schools! Thrilled that the Inflation Reduction Act is paying dividends making our air cleaner and our kids safer.

Access to contraception, abortion, and IVF is a fundamental part of health care. Any attempt to curtail that hurts women and endangers lives. I stand firmly with a woman’s right to access the treatment her doctor recommends.
Good news for Helene recovery! We got $1.3 million in federal funding to assess damages to our parks and public recreation spaces and begin plans to restore them!
Next, we need to pass a full disaster recovery bill to fund long-term clean-up efforts. I’m ready to get it done ASAP.
It’s frustrating that small business owners impacted by natural disasters have been left high and dry since October 15.
We need to do our duty and refill SBA’s budget so small businesses wrecked by flooding can stay operational.
Nikki Giovanni led an exceptional life and left an incredible legacy. I join the Virginia Tech community and all Virginians in remembering her and celebrating the tremendous art she leaves behind.

Enjoyed hearing from local leaders in Alexandria this morning and sharing an update on my work to keep the government running, get more funding for the Metro, and support more robust housing and energy production!
The infrastructure law has created jobs, improved our decaying roads and bridges, and made our communities more resilient.
It’s a once-in-a-generation investment, and I am looking forward to it continuing to pay dividends making America safer and more prosperous.
Don’t let it get lost in the year-end rush – open enrollment through the Marketplace is still on! Join the millions of Americans covered by the ACA by checking your eligibility or enrolling today!
