#OTD August 29th, 1778, at the height of the American Revolution, the first racially integrated American military unit, the First RI Regiment, forced the British Army to retreat from Portsmouth.
Gathered with so many Rhode Islanders to remember the late, great Judge Frank Caprio at his calling hours and funeral. As he said “Kindness is the one gift that costs nothing, but means everything. Give it freely, especially when it’s hard.” In his memory, let’s spread some kindness today.
🚨Trump is ILLEGALLY trying to rescind $5 billion MORE in foreign aid! 🚨 This money is good for America - it stops wars, famine, and PANDEMICS. Working with @houseforeign.bsky.social on a strategy to stop this.
Trump stopped all medical and humanitarian visas for Gazan children – indefinitely denying lifesaving medical care.   I joined @debbiedingell.house.gov, @repkimschrier.bsky.social, and 141 of our colleagues in demanding Secretary Rubio urgently reverse this dangerous and cruel decision.
The mass departure of CDC leaders will imperil public health for generations. Dr. Daskalakis is a principled public servant who I previously worked with at the White House — when science still mattered and we listened to experts.
My thoughts are with the victims & families affected by the shooting at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis.  Thank you to the first responders for their quick response.  Back to school should not mean a return to school shootings — we must act to protect our communities.
Thanks to over $30 million in federal funding, Providence Fire Department is getting two new rescues! 🚒   Our first responders take incredible risks to protect Rhode Islanders and need top-of-the-line resources to stay safe and properly serve our communities.
Proud to stand with LIUNA Local 271 members because working people must be at the heart of growing our economy & making it work for all of us. I’ll continue to stand against attacks on unions and with people just fighting to make ends meet.
Trump does not have the authority to fire Lisa Cook. It's Trump's erratic tariffs and authoritarian acts that are raising costs & killing 401ks. Undermining the Fed is just another illegal power grab to control our economy and make non-political professionals bend to his will.
Welcome to Rhode Island Anduril Industries! Their brand new Quonset facility will bring over 100 jobs to our state for manufacturing affordable and adaptable underwater drones — expanding RI’s Blue Economy to meet the maritime technology needs of tomorrow.
Trump’s disastrous stop work order on RI energy production is making it even harder for workers and families to get by. Our clean energy future and our economic security depend on this project — which is already 80% done. This project must go forward.
Standing with RI leaders against Trump's reckless attack on clean energy — threatening union jobs and raising energy prices.    I won't be silent while the federal government undermines clean energy investments that lower costs for Rhode Islanders and combat climate change.
There’s no better way to celebrate the dedicated volunteers of Warren’s Touisset Fire Company than a traditional, rockweed-prepared Rhode Island clambake! 🚒🍲 Glad to thank our brave local first-responders over Rhode Island clams, chowder, & stuffing.
Trump’s actions are recklessly hurting RI’s economy and our clean & affordable electricity future. Halting this nearly completed project is illogical, unwarranted, and unacceptable.  I will do everything I can to lower energy bills in our state and keep hardworking Rhode Islanders on the job.
