Thank you to everyone who came to my Multnomah County Town Hall Meeting!
This month I've held town hall meetings in Hillsboro, Scappoose, Tillamook, and Portland, and I heard consistently that costs are too high, ICE is out of control, and Oregonians don’t want another war. 🧵
While your health care costs continue to rise, Donald Trump is spending billions of your taxpayer dollars fighting an unpopular foreign war. We need healthcare, not warfare.
Instead, the President decided to deploy untrained ICE agents to airports to "fill the gap" while TSA workers continue to show up without pay. That’s dangerous and wrong. And it shows that ICE is overfunded if they have enough agents to stand around at airports.
The President and Congressional Republicans can and should end the DHS shutdown and pay TSA agents, FEMA, and the Coast Guard for the important work they do. 🧵
REMINDER: My Multnomah County Town Hall Meeting is TODAY at 6pm. I hope to see you there!
This means that student loan borrowers will have to navigate more bureaucracy and multiple agencies to apply for student loans and find affordable repayment options. We should be making it easier--not harder--for people to pursue higher education.
The Trump administration announced that they're moving many if not most of the student loan programs from the Dept Of Education to the Treasury, and it’s unlikely that they are also moving staff and expertise. 🧵
I stand with survivors and advocates like OCADSV (Oregon Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence) and I will keep fighting until survivors get the resources and the justice they deserve.
The Trump admin's attacks on resources for survivors of domestic and sexual violence are egregious and cruel. These programs are essential to the safety and stability of community members, but harmful anti-DEI language in funding restrictions are hurting survivors of sexual crimes. 🧵
Eid Mubarak to those celebrating Eid al-Fitr!

BREAKING NEWS: Just now, we secured a court order on behalf of our multistate coalition: the judge ruled from the bench that healthcare decisions must stay with families and their providers, not the government. #orpol
Thank you to all of the young people advocating for access to care and counseling and working to reduce stigma.
If you're struggling, you're not alone. Text or call 988 for judgment-free mental health support.
It was meaningful to be at the Out of the Darkness Walk with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and student leaders at Tillamook High School. 🧵
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s forecasts keep Oregonians safe, and I’m working to protect its funding so alerts go out before disaster strikes.
I’m happy to announce that the bipartisan NOAA Weather Radio Modernization Act has passed out of committee! As the representative for Oregon’s North Coast, I’ve worked to strengthen federal weather programs since 2013 because timely and accurate weather alerts save lives and property. 🧵
I stand in strong support of the Stop Comstock Act and I will fight the Republicans' blatant attempt at a nationwide abortion ban straight out of the Project 2025 playbook. No one should have to live in fear of accessing reproductive care.
Arts and culture are important to our communites and to the economy, which is why I inroduced the bipartisan CREATIVE Act to bolster arts and cultural institutions and the bipartisan Arts Education for All bill to increase access to arts education.
I always enjoy connecting with my friends at the Oregon Arts Commission! 🧵
The so-called "SAVE America Act" is an attack on the fundamental rights of Americans. Voting is a pillar of democracy, and we should be making it easier, not harder to vote. @orsecretaryread.bsky.social and I outlined how dangerous this legislation would be to our elections.
