Oregon lost a legend. Senator Avel Gordly was a trailblazer, a leader, a fierce advocate, a changemaker, a colleague, and a friend. Her work on education, behavioral health, civil rights, and more made Oregon a better place. I send sincere condolences to her family and friends.
This morning I joined the City of Portland, OMSI, and the Central Eastside Industrial Council in celebrating an important milestone for the new OMSI District. I am honored to have secured federal funding to help move this project forward and invest in Portland’s future.
Dismantling the Department of Education, gutting the Office of Civil Rights, and shuffling essential programs to different agencies without staff or expertise is bad for educators, kids, and families. They deserve better.
I recently visited Maria in the Tacoma detention center. She is a loving mom, pays her taxes, and has no criminal history -- not even a parking ticket. She deserves to come home to her two children and her husband, who is recovering from surgery. I will not stop fighting until she is home.
Happy 167th Birthday, Oregon! On Feb. 14, 1859, Oregon became the 33rd state. Today, we remember Oregon’s past and look toward the future.
Maria should not be in detention. I spoke out at a hearing in DC because she should be home with her kids and her husband, who just had surgery. No family should have to go through this pain.
Students are suffering as this administration's inhumane mass deportation policies turn schools into places of fear. I will not be silent while children are in danger and afraid.

Getting rid of a manual designed to help judges understand the science behind climate change is short-sighted and small-minded.
This is another step in the Trump administration’s plan to ignore facts and deny climate change.
The increase in extreme weather events, dirtier air and water, and high costs that devastate Oregonians and Americans are real. www.nytimes.com/2026/02/10/c...
The AIDNW team provides a vital safety net for those who have been detained, and I am thankful for their continued work in Tacoma.
When immigrants and asylum seekers are released, advocates for Immigrants in Detention Northwest (AIDNW) connects then with essential services, including food, clothes, phone access, and transportation.
I recently visited the ICE Detention Center in Tacoma, and after meeting with Oregonians in detention I spoke with workers and volunteers at AIDNW. 🧵
Please join Attorney General Rayfield and me at 6pm on February 24th. Sign up to receive a call at bonamici.house.gov/live
Attorney General Rayfield has fought tirelessly against Trump's overreach, and I am excited to host this town hall meeting with such a tireless defender of the law and the Constitution.
I will not sit in the State of the Union while Donald Trump lies, demonizes immigrants, and threatens democracy. Instead, I will use this time to speak with my constituents about their concerns and hopes for OR-01. I am grateful to announce that @agdanrayfield.bsky.social will be joining me. 🧵
The federal government doesn't set curriculum; that's done by local school boards and states. My Democratic colleagues and I oppose politicizing education and will work with students, parents, and educators so every student receives a high-quality education in a safe, well-funded environment.
Cannon Beach in OR-01 is a beautiful place to get engaged! Congratulations to the married couple! 💍 🏖️
The administration's policy decisions are catastrophic, especially for rural health care. I will keep fighting until my constituents have access to affordable, accessible health care and education.
Donald Trump is making it more difficult for people to work in health care occupations at the same time he's making it harder for Oregonians and Americans to get care.🧵
