Congress awarded this medal to every Rosie back in 2020 and when we found out about Betty’s story, my office worked to secure a physical medal from the U.S. Mint which I presented to her today. I’m so glad we were able to honor this incredible member of our community!

It was an incredible honor to present the Congressional Gold Medal to Collinsville’s own Betty Wrigley. A real-life Rosie the Riveter, this award recognizes Betty’s invaluable contributions to the war effort during WWII and celebrates her role as a trailblazer for generations of women in America.

The Trump administration’s decision to DELAY the clean up of PFAS from the drinking water in and around Scott Air Force Base is unacceptable. Our military servicemembers and communities near the base deserve to know that the water coming out of their tap is clean and safe.
