Hey Vermonters, without further action from Republicans, the government will shut down tonight at midnight.
You may have questions about how a government shutdown will affect you and your family. Please see these FAQs now live on my website:
If Republicans in Congress allow the health care tax credits to expire, here's what it will mean for Vermont⤵️
27,000 Vermonters will see their health care costs go up.
28,512 Vermonters will lose health coverage because Republicans cut Medicaid/Green Mountain Care.
Cruel.
Shana Tova! Happy New Year to all who celebrate. Last night I celebrated with my family with apples and honey for a sweet upcoming year. May we all do all we can to alleviate suffering around the world.
Our nation is in crisis. We are in a very dark place and Americans are scared and they want to see a way forward. We all need to start with ourselves.
My vote on the Charlie Kirk resolution today was a vote to condemn ALL political violence. My thoughts here:
The suffering in Gaza goes beyond the tragic loss of life inherent to war; at this point, the Netanyahu government’s actions appear to be a systematic, intentional destruction of the Palestinian people.
We all need to come to terms with the fact that NO ONE is safe from gun violence in America. It is going to take federal legislation to keep guns away from dangerous people. It's going to mean ending the constant demonizing and fearmongering of other people.
I'll never forget 24 years ago today finding out about the attack on 9/11. We hold the memory of the 3,000 fellow Americans in our hearts today and everyday. And we will always remember the bravery of the first responders.
Political violence is never the answer. This is NOT the way forward and has no place in a healthy democracy.
Demilitarize DC now. Donald Trump cannot declare “war” on DC, Chicago, LA, or any city.
Let me get this straight: in order to see if your medical procedure is covered by insurance, the government will use AI to decide if it is really necessary??
For-profit companies will deny care for seniors and working people to get richer. Despicable.
It's been six years since Elise Stefanik held a town hall. SIX.
Glens Falls, and every district whose Republican member of Congress only cares about you if your name is Donald Trump, we are fighting for you!
When you go to work, you should receive a livable wage. You should have health care and workplace protections. You should be able to join a union without fear of retaliation. These are the common sense demands of the labor movement. It is essential.
Happy Labor Day!
Trump knows Republicans are on track to lose in 2026 and in 2028 so he's doing everything he can to steal the elections.
He knows he's deeply unpopular, his actions are hurting millions of Americans (including those who voted for him), and that he can't win without suppressing the vote.
Young people are losing hope for the future.
Prices are high and going up.
Buying a home is out of reach.
College is expensive and there's no student debt relief.
Climate change is destroying the planet.
Rights and freedoms are being stripped away.
This is not sustainable.
build, build, build
housing, housing, housing
I'm a mother and a teacher and I'm so sick to my stomach. Our kids are being shot in church pews. This is not normal. But we've let it become the norm.
America, when will we admit we have a deep sickness when it comes to gun violence.
