Couldn’t agree more with @adamsmith.house.gov. Our military exists to serve and protect the nation, not to glorify any one individual. A multi-million-dollar birthday parade — at taxpayer expense — is a gross misuse of our armed forces and public funds.
"It's in Russia and North Korea that we force the military to honor the dear leader. It is not supposed to be what the United States of America is about." Ranking Member @adamsmith.house.gov on @cnn.com discussing Trump's plans for a military parade on his 79th birthday. youtu.be/Y5jp8aSN0Ls
From defending our nation to providing essential services, the federal workforce shapes millions of lives every day. This Public Service Recognition Week, we honor their dedication and stand united against the recent attacks on them. ⬇️
If House Republicans push these cuts through: ❌ 1.2 million veterans, 4.8 million seniors, and 14.6 million children could go hungry. ❌ Over 1 million children risk losing access to school breakfast and lunch. ❌ Grocery costs will skyrocket by over $500 per year for 40 million people.
House Republicans are trying to jam through their reckless budget plan that cuts Medicaid for tens of millions of Americans and takes food assistance away from children, seniors, and veterans.
I had a productive meeting with Advanced Scientific Concepts in Goleta where we discussed their cutting-edge imaging technology, which is used by our military and NASA. The Central Coast is an innovation hub and that’s why I will continue fighting for strong investments in science and technology.
It was an honor to speak at the 66th Annual Carpinteria Community Awards Banquet. This special event honors individuals and groups who are making a real difference in the community.
This Military Appreciation Month, I’m proud to honor all who have and continue to serve our nation. As a veteran myself, I’m committed to ensuring our service members, veterans, and military families receive the appreciation, respect, and support they deserve. 🇺🇸
I stopped in to say hello and thank you to our postal workers at the Santa Margarita Post Office! Postal workers are the bedrock of so many communities. We rely on them to deliver medications, birthday cards, Social Security checks, and so much more.
🎉 Join me in celebrating our 2025 Central Coast Women of the Year — five incredible leaders making a difference in our communities! 🌟 Alison Wales 🌟 Cherie Eulau 🌟 JoAnne Meade Young 🌟 Julie Rodewald 🌟 Lisa Kawamura
Trump is now targeting the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which has produced iconic programs like Sesame Street, PBS NewsHour, Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood, NPR's Morning Edition, and many more. We will not stand by and let him destroy public TV and radio.
🚨Calling all middle and high school students on the Central Coast! Ready to put your coding skills to the test? Apply to compete in this year's Congressional App Challenge to develop your own app and show off your amazing talent! The application is open until October 30th.
AmeriCorps volunteers tackle important problems, from helping veterans to fighting wildfires and the fentanyl crisis. Trump wants to slash its funding for his billionaire tax cuts—but we refuse to let that happen. That's why I'm calling on the President to halt these cutbacks.
I met with the executive team of Meals That Connect in SLO to thank them for the work they're doing to support local seniors. With SNAP and Social Security under attack, the work they do for seniors is more important than ever.
