Today marks 60 years since the assassination of human rights activist, Malcolm X. He was a guiding force of the civil rights movement, and we must honor his life and legacy by continuing the fight for true justice, dignity, and equality for all.
The Trump-Musk order to fire federal employees who provide critical services to everyday Americans is a senseless approach to government efficiency. Over 50,000 North Carolinians are federal employees, and I will keep fighting to protect their livelihoods. My full statement:
It was great meeting with @orangehabitat.bsky.social to discuss how Congress can address rising housing costs and barriers to homeownership. Everyone deserves a safe and affordable place to call home, and I will continue to support federal programs to make homeownership more accessible for all.
This week, I met with local AFGE leaders to hear their concerns and the challenges they face as Trump continues to attack our civil servants. Our federal workers are essential to keeping our roads, skies, environment, & community safe. In Congress, I’ll fight to defend their jobs and their rights.
Gutting USAID would be disastrous—and as the fourth highest state recipient of its funding, we will feel the harmful impacts right here in NC. I welcome the recent court ruling ordering Trump to restore USAID's funding that is essential for our national security. apnews.com/article/usai...
Thank you to everyone who tuned into my telephone town hall! We had over 19,000 people join to hear the latest updates on what is being done in Congress to combat the extreme actions taken by the Trump Administration. During these uncertain times, I will always fight for you and our community.
NIH budget cuts will hurt North Carolina universities and local research institutions, and stifle cutting-edge cancer research initiatives. It's unacceptable that this administration is prioritizing lining billionaires' pockets over life-saving disease prevention research. time.com/7216299/nih-...
Today, we celebrate 116 years of the #NAACP, which has been at the front lines in the fight for equality and racial justice for all Americans. The NAACP's mission is more important now than ever, and we must continue to work to build a more inclusive and equitable society for all.
Join me TONIGHT at 6:30PM for my telephone town hall! Tune in to hear me, @repjasmine.bsky.social, @frost.house.gov and @neguse.house.gov discuss important issues that matter most to the residents of the Fourth District. Dial in to join the conversation at 833-408-1993.
Donald Trump turned over the keys to the White House to Elon Musk, the Un-Elected President of the United States. You can't claim to be working against corporate elites while simultaneously giving the richest man in the world unchecked access and control over our federal government.
Join me this Wednesday at 6:30PM for my telephone town hall! Tune in to hear me discuss important issues that matter most to the residents of the Fourth District. Dial in to join the conversation at 833-408-1993.
Elon Musk's infiltration of Treasury payment systems means access to Social Security numbers, tax refunds and sensitive data. I am proud to join @housedemocrats.bsky.social in introducing the Taxpayer Data Protection Act to prevent unelected billionaires from gaining access to the treasury.
The unconstitutional shuttering of USAID will have devastating effects on our ability to provide humanitarian aid and support public health around the world. I joined @housedemocrats.bsky.social in relaying concerns to Secretary of State Rubio about the legality & long-term effects of ending USAID.
@usedgov.bsky.social Acting Secretary Carter continues to ignore our request for a meeting. So today, we showed up at her doorstep. The American people deserve answers about Trump's plan to dismantle this agency which supports children with disabilities and K-12 schools nationwide.
