Now, it’s time for Congress to get back to work and build an economy where people aren’t yanked around by partisan interests, where we understand national health doesn’t come from insurance coverage – and reestablish a truly deliberative democracy.
The last several weeks have been a case study in why most Americans can’t stand Congress. None of my friends who rely on SNAP would want to trade their dinner for an ambiguous D.C. beltway "messaging victory" and I’m glad this ugly scene is in the rearview mirror.
It was so cool to see their partnership with Regenerative Industrial to put the mill waste to good use in construction, agriculture, and more. We need to support family businesses in rural communities by lifting them up and removing barriers.
When corporate interests tell farmers that they can’t fix their own equipment, they should know they’ve crossed a line. My bill would make it clear that Congress's loyalties are with America’s farmers – not the multinational conglomerates who are rolling them over a barrel.
It was so encouraging to engage with such a community minded and strategic group of people at Vista Del Rio Mobile Home Community, and it’s an honor to fight alongside them for common sense reform to protect Americans’ right to self-determination.
Local corrections officers shoulder an incredibly heavy emotional burden, and their labor too often goes unseen and underappreciated. My visit to the Skamania County Jail helped me better understand the challenges corrections officers face in rural communities.
