Enacting the HAVA was one of my proudest achievements, & I was glad to join a panel discussion at UMD on how secure voting systems help maintain Americans’ faith in our elections.
I encourage our youth to find ways to get involved with election administration to support the future of our democracy.
BARC is among the largest and most influential agricultural research facilities in the world. USDA's proposal to decommission BARC is illegal & deeply harmful to American farmers & food security.
The Trump Administration must work with Congress on the long-term future of BARC and its vital mission.
I am deeply disturbed by the shooting that took place at the White House Correspondents Dinner. I thank the Secret Service for its swift response to protect all those in attendance.
We must recommit ourselves to peaceful discourse; violence is never appropriate to address political disagreements.
Tune in tonight at 7:00 p.m. as I join Dasha Burns and Congressman Mark Amodei on C-SPAN's Ceasefire to discuss the cost-of-living crisis, the ongoing Department of Homeland Security shutdown, and more.
Watch here: www.c-span.org/series/?ceas...
The law is clear: BARC must be kept open so it can continue to support agricultural research & innovation and American farmers’ efforts to put food on our tables.
Team Maryland is committed to seeing that USDA keeps BARC where it belongs in Prince George’s County.

If Congress continues to pretend that January 6, 2021 was just another day in Washington, D.C., we violate our oath and allow perpetrators of violence to evade accountability.
I oppose any effort to rationalize insurrection and that attempt to undermine the Constitution by force.
During his service in the Congress, I witnessed Rep. David Scott’s hard work transform the lives of countless farmers and Americans.
I'm deeply saddened by his passing, and I pray his family is comforted by knowing how much of a positive impact he had in Georgia and our country.
Happy Earth Day! While we celebrate nature and our beautiful communities, the work remains to stop the climate change threatening our health, ecosystems, & natural resources.
Today & every day let us make sustainable decisions and implement solutions that protect our planet for future generations.
Great to visit Charlotte Hall Veterans Home with Gov. Moore & witness the profound impact of our collective action to strengthen health care for veterans.
Team Maryland remains committed to ensuring that Marylanders who bravely served our nation in uniform receive the quality of care they deserve.
The FSGG bill is supposed to be the vehicle for funding agencies that power our government to operate in the best interests of the American people. Instead, it falls far short.
@democrats-appropriations.house.gov will keep fighting to ensure the government works for those it is supposed to serve.
Our nation's veterans deserve better than what they've experienced over the past year and a half from the Trump Administration.
Tune in at 11:00 a.m. as @democrats-appropriations.house.gov work to honor the promises we made to those who served and their families:
Proud to announce that the Maryland Fifth District’s 45th Annual Service Academy & College ROTC Showcase will take place on Friday, May 8th.
I encourage all #MD05 students, parents, and educators to come see what our prestigious service academies have to offer.

Republicans continue to slash programs and protections that ensure our elections are secure and protect Americans from scams & higher costs for services they need.
@democrats-appropriations.house.gov will keep standing against their efforts to leave hardworking Americans vulnerable & on their own.
It was an honor to join the groundbreaking for the new ARLIS facility at UMD. I was proud to secure federal funding for advanced research infrastructure at UMD & am thrilled to see quantum computing initiatives expanding. I look forward to the exciting discoveries that will emerge from the facility.
Serving on the Helsinki Commission was one of the defining chapters of my 45 years in the House.
As I gathered with past and present Members & staff of the commission, we were reminded that democracy’s survival is never inevitable; it requires vigilance, cooperation, courage, and above all, action.
Instead of investing in our civic institutions, Republicans are slashing federal programs and services that protect and make life more affordable for hardworking American families.
Tune in now as @democrats-appropriations.house.gov fight back:
I was honored to join the NFFF Flag Ceremony to remember our fallen heroes and give thanks for their sacrifice for our nation.
As Co-Chair of the Congressional Fire Services Caucus, I will continue my work to keep our firefighters safe in the line of duty and support their families.
It was an honor to be recognized by the St. Mary's River Watershed Association for my work to combat the challenges that our beloved St. Mary's River & its ecosystem face. I look forward to continuing our partnership to support a healthier, cleaner, & more sustainable St. Mary's River and watershed.
Today I join Jewish communities around the world to observe Yom HaShoah in remembrance of the 6 million Jews killed in the Nazis' horrific genocide.
It is up to all of us to ensure that the memory of the Holocaust doesn't fade from history but instead helps shape a better, more just future for all.
He truly represented what it means to better one's community and one's country. I extend my deepest condolences to Eliot's family. May his memory be a blessing.
