Republicans chose this shutdown—and it’s hurting families, workers, and small businesses. Their stranglehold on healthcare means higher costs and lost coverage for millions. Democrats are fighting to protect care and put people first.
During these unprecedented times, it is imperative that Marylanders have the resources necessary to navigate what is to come. If you are concerned or have questions regarding the shutdown, please visit my FAQ for further information: ivey.house.gov/federal-gove...
As Day 2 of the government shutdown continues, I am continuing to fight for YOU. Yesterday, I was joined by Ottis Johnson, Jr., AFGE and Rob Shriver, @democracyforward.org for a webinar on the impacts of the government shutdown. You can view it here: www.youtube.com/live/5U2nCb1....
I will continue to fight for #MD04 because our communities deserve better. I am hosting a government shutdown webinar at 5 p.m. to share information that impacts Marylanders. I will be joined by Ottis Johnson Jr., AFGE & Rob Shriver @democracyforward.org. Register: https:/tinyurl.com/IveyLivestream
The American people deserve a functioning goverment that works for them.
I will continue to fight because the stakes for our communities and our country are simply too high.
Read my statement below.
🚨 A potential government shutdown is just hours away. Programs that many rely on like benefits & healthcare could face serious disruptions

Republicans continue to play politics with the health care of thousands of people in the state of Maryland. If they don’t act now, tax credits will expire and those with chronic illness will pay the price. I stand united with Democrats to fight to protect your care.
Today marks the deadline for Service Academy Nominations.

Republicans created a health care crisis, skipped town, and now threaten a shutdown. Democrats are in Washington ready to protect your care and keep the government open.
Russ Vought has ZERO respect for the Federal Workers that power our government. He isn't going to bully his way out of this Republican led government shutdown‼️
First he fired them. Now he’s calling them back. 😤
Hundreds laid off by Trump’s DOGE cuts are being called back to work after months of uncertainty resulting in delayed services for taxpayers.
No more stunts. No more chaos. Federal workers deserve respect.

Honored to speak with the Maryland Regional Minority Suppliers Development Council. Minority-owned businesses drive jobs and innovation, yet Trump’s agenda threatens to roll back hard-won progress. We must keep breaking barriers and expanding opportunities for MBEs—now more than ever.
Maryland has lost 15,000+ federal jobs this year, the most in the nation. I’ve hosted resource & job fairs to connect displaced employees with new opportunities. I’m fighting to reinstate workers, secure back pay, & protect the families who keep our government running.
The Beltsville Agricultural Research Center (BARC) has powered agricultural innovation for over a century. Closing it guts food security research, climate resilience breakthroughs, & public health protections nationwide—while putting more than 600 scientists out of work & wasting taxpayer dollars.
The deadline for Service Academy Nominations is approaching. Interested in submitting an application? The deadline to submit is September 30th.

I toured the Beltsville Agricultural Research Center (BARC) with @vanhollen.senate.gov, @alsobrooks.senate.gov @hoyer.house.gov, @RepMcClainDelaney & PG County Executive Braveboy & held a press conference to highlight protecting and investing in this vital research facility. We will fight for BARC.
As the Jewish community marks Rosh Hashanah, I send my warmest wishes for a year of health, peace, and renewal. This season reminds us of the power of reflection, forgiveness, and hope. May the year ahead be sweet, safe, and fulfilling for all who observe.
Health care is on the line in this shutdown fight. The Big Ugly Bill puts 245,929 people in my district at risk of losing coverage. I am standing up for seniors, kids, and working families in Prince George’s and Montgomery Counties to protect care and keep services running—no excuses, no delays.
