As Trump detains immigrant fathers, mothers, and beloved community members, his administration is diverting resources and letting the real criminals run free.
Weapons seizures are down 73%. Narcotics arrests are down 11%. He is not at all going after the “worst of the worst.”
HAPPENING NOW: I’m hosting my fifth Shadow Hearing, focusing today on Trump’s detention abuses.
The administration is kidnapping and disappearing immigrants to detention centers with absolutely horrific conditions. If Republicans won’t conduct oversight, we will.
LIVE: I'm holding a Shadow Hearing on Trump's immigration detention abuses. Tune in here:

Trump's attacks on Somalis are disgusting. WA has one of the largest Somali populations in the U.S. and I am proud to have worked for decades with this community. As an immigrant, I reject this hate and stand proudly with immigrants from all over the world.

Today I introduced my Dignity for Detained Immigrants bill — to combat the lawless and inhumane way this administration has treated immigrants in detention.
These are just a handful of the countless stories I’ve received from my constituents about how their health care costs are skyrocketing, thanks to Trump and Republicans.
People across the country are going to get sicker and poorer — all so billionaires can get a tax break.
WA state law prohibits the public disclosure of personal information like full names, Social Security numbers, and driver’s license numbers.
This lawsuit is yet another power grab from the Trump administration — and a violation of our privacy. www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news...
Trump is kidnapping and disappearing immigrants of all legal statuses into for-profit detention centers, denying them legal access, and subjecting them to awful conditions.
200+ judges have ruled against his actions, and I’m introducing legislation to fix this broken system.
As an immigrant, hearing the stories about conditions in Trump’s immigration detention centers has been horrifying.
Today, I introduced my Dignity for Detained Immigrants Act to end our over-reliance on detention and ensure that immigrants’ civil and human rights are protected.
HAPPENING NOW: I’m introducing my Dignity for Detained Immigrants Act to fix our broken immigration detention system that is full of rights violations and for-profit prisons.
Trump’s treatment of immigrants has been unacceptable. We’re fighting back.

Great to join @nationalnurses.bsky.social to call for a health care system that works for all Americans, not just the richest few.
Congress needs to extend the expiring ACA tax credits to save families from a massive premium hike next year — and then we need to pass my Medicare For All bill.
This is Donald Trump's economy — tax cuts for billionaires, fewer jobs for poor and working American families. www.forbes.com/sites/tylerr...
Trump’s treatment of immigrants is beyond inhumane.
That’s why today I’m introducing my Dignity for Detained Immigrants Act to phase out our over-reliance on private, for-profit detention centers & put in place guardrails to protect immigrants’ civil & human rights. www.newsweek.com/ice-detentio...
Trump and Republicans have been promising a new health care plan for nearly a decade. Yes, literally almost TEN YEARS.
I’ve got an idea — and it’s a plan that actually exists! Let’s pass Medicare for All. www.commondreams.org/news/medicar...
Congress can’t just sit by as giant corporations use AI to discriminate against people applying for housing, jobs, or loans. We must act.
Our AI Civil Rights Act will regulate these algorithms, root out bias, and put guardrails in place at every single stage of development.
I think the word “affordability” means a whole lot to the millions of Americans who are struggling to pay for food, rent, or health care right now.
Democrats are fighting for you. Trump doesn’t give a damn.
We’re demanding that Russ Vought, Trump’s OMB Director and the architect of Project 2025, testify before the House Budget Committee.
He has unlawfully blocked funding and created a massive affordability crisis across the country. Congress and the American people deserve answers.
That’s why today, I’m proud to stand with @markey.senate.gov, @repyvetteclarke.bsky.social, @repsummerlee.bsky.social, and @pressley.house.gov to introduce the AI Civil Rights Act.
AI is a $244 billion industry that lacks the guardrails necessary to protect Americans from the bias and discrimination baked into algorithms.
And Congress is way behind on putting in place the needed regulations to ensure equal access to housing, jobs, and even bank loans.
These stories from individuals fleeing the brutal civil war and humanitarian crisis in Sudan are horrifying.
The United States must use its leverage to end these atrocities and protect the Sudanese people. www.bbc.com/news/article...
