Happy #NationalFishingandBoatingWeek! From the mighty Maumee River to the shores of Lake Erie—NW Ohio offers many opportunities to cast a line or set sail. I’m proud to champion the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative to keep our waters clean—let’s protect what makes our treasured Freshwater Kingdom.
Honored to join 100+ local leaders from across northern Ohio at the Greater Cleveland Partnership’s Empowering Local Leadership Conference in DC. Together, we discussed federal partnerships, strengthening our cities, and community reinvestment. When local and federal leaders unite, progress follows.
Job Corps gives at-risk youth a path to success through education and job training. I joined 198 colleagues urging the Department of Labor to keep this life-changing program running. In communities across NW Ohio, it opens doors that would otherwise remain closed.   Stand up and protect our future.
ICYMI: a court order paused the closure of 99 Job Corps centers across the United States, temporarily protecting at risk youth who depend on the program for career training and a place to live. We continue our calls to invest in these students and to #SaveJobCorps.
Happy #NationalTrailsDay! NW Ohio is home to one of the nation’s best park systems—Toledo Metroparks. From the Oak Openings savanna to the Howard Marsh wetlands, our trails offer beauty, peace, and connection to nature. Let’s celebrate, protect, and expand access to treasured green spaces for all.

If clean energy tax credits are repealed, Ohio loses Tens of Billions and America loses massive Private and Public investment. We can create jobs of the future at home now, or we can give them away to China for generations. I want jobs of the future in NW Ohio—not overseas. Call your Senators!
"Repealing clean energy investments would be bad for American businesses and bad for American workers. We urge Sen. Thom Tillis to continue being the leader we need and fix this reckless legislation." - Rob Axford #IBEW 553 www.charlotteobserver.com/opinion/arti...
Gun violence is the leading cause of death for American children. On #NationalGunViolenceAwarenessDay, we #WearOrange to honor those lost, and stand with families living with the pain. My bipartisan bill encourages gun safes/locks to protect children, families, schools, and neighborhoods.

Yesterday, Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) and I, the co-chairs of the bipartisan Congressional Job Corps Caucus, led a letter signed by 199 members of Congress to U.S. Department of Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer urging her to continue the Job Corps program. bishop.house.gov/media-center...
On this D-Day anniversary, we remember 180,000 Allied heroes who stormed the beaches of Normandy to free a world gripped by tyranny. Their courage reclaimed Liberty for the generations to come, and I carry their memory with me each and every day. We enjoy freedom because they fought to defend it.
Last week DOE cancelled $3.7 Billion for 24 advanced energy manufacturing projects including 3 in Ohio for Libbey Glass, OI Glass and Kraft Heinz totaling $107 Million. I fiercely object to these hasty ill considered decisions that risk Ohio jobs and undermine investment in our manufacturing future.
The National Association of Women Business Owners is celebrating 50 years empowering women entrepreneurs. These trailblazers are the backbone of our communities. They don’t just run businesses—they build communities, create opportunity, and move our nation forward. Keep going!!
On #WorldEnvironmentDay, I echo the call to protect the Great Lakes—our shared national treasure. Real change comes through cooperation across borders and generations. As Dean of our Great Lakes region, I've always been committed to ensuring a sustainable future for the world that sustains us all.
Discussing mission readiness and the National Guard of the future with NW Ohio native Chief of the National Guard Bureau General Steven Nordhaus. General Nordhaus previously commanded our 180th Fighter Wing in Toledo.
While Elon Musk and President Trump mark their territory, the GOP is working to kick 16 million people off their health care, collapse rural hospitals, and rack up more debt — all so Billionaires can receive massive tax breaks. It’s time for them to grow up or get out of the way.
As representative of the region that produces the most eggs in our nation, on National Egg Day I rose to say I stand with the people who make our breakfast, not those making excuses, and delaying scientific progress. Ohio families, and farmers deserve better than price gouging and political spin.
