While this only extends funding through March of next year, I will continue to push for full funding of programs that make life easier for the hardworking people of Northwest Ohio.
Whether it is farmers that need help due to a season of exceptional drought, Americans suffering from disasters including tornados and hurricanes, or those in need of help putting food on the table, we delivered.
With only 45 minutes to review a bill of such magnitude, I voted Present to signal we need to form a “Big Middle” and go back to the drawing board. Our nation does not need default nor Billionaires walking away with the public purse and giving more American jobs away to China.
We learned late this afternoon that Republican leadership of this House derailed the important Appropriation bills to fund the government of the United States. The American people have been waiting for far too long. If you can't bring the bill to the floor, you shouldn't be paid.
Happy #WrightBrothersDay! Proud to honor Ohio's legacy as the birthplace of aviation. From their humble Dayton roots to their groundbreaking first flight, Orville and Wilbur Wright's innovation started right here in our Buckeye State. Let’s continue to soar higher, together!
Today alongside my fellow Labor Caucus Vice Chair Rep. Chris Deluzio & Co-Chairs Rep. Norcross, Rep. Mark Pocan, Rep. Debbie Dingell, & Rep. Steve Horsford I led a letter to the President and regulators calling to block sale of American owned US Steel to a foreign buyer, Japanese owned Nippon Steel.
Congress has approved our legislation to rename US Route 20 as the "National Medal of Honor Highway.” The legislation now moves to the President’s desk to be signed into law. Honored to pay tribute to our nation’s heroes and inspire new generations.
December 15th, #BillofRightsDay, honors the first 10 amendments to our US Constitution. Today we recognize the importance of these first vital changes to our founding document and the 17 subsequent amendments since ratified.
I also thank the outstanding administrators, computer science and engineering academic professionals from Northwest State Community College, The University of Toledo, Lourdes University and Bowling Green State University for donating their expertise to judge this year’s contest.
Each team has shown passion and creativity through their work. They have also built critical computer science, engineering, and coding skills that prepare them for the workforce.
This year’s 3rd place winner’s were David Liu & Henry Shao of Sylvania Southview High School in Lucas County. Outstanding submissions were also received from The Bounty Collegium, Sylvania Northview High School and Sylvania Southview High School.
This “app” allows beekeepers to check weather conditions for inspection and predict how much honey their hive will produce. I appreciate all 20 teams’ app submissions this year.
Congratulations to Luke and Harrison Spitnale of Bryan Middle School in Williams County, Ohio for winning Ohio’s 9th District 2024 Congressional App Challenge. The Spitnale brother’s mobile application, “The Bee Keeper” is buzzing.
Last night I announced the winners of the 9th Congressional District Congressional App Challenge for 2024. We hosted a reception at the National Museum of the Great Lakes to celebrate the accomplishment of all who competed. #HouseofCode
Happy Birthday to the National Guard. Grateful for the brave men and women of the Ohio National Guard, especially the 180th Fighter Wing. Your service and dedication inspire us all — thank you for keeping our skies safe!
Tonight we will come together back home to honor a man whose steadfast leadership, has left an indelible mark on NW Ohio — Mayor Craig A. Stough of the thriving City of Sylvania, Ohio. Today I paid tribute to his decades of service on the floor of the House of Representatives.
The House passed the National Defense Authorization Act, continuing a bipartisan tradition to keep partisan politics out of America's national security decisions. The bill includes a 14.5% pay raise for junior enlisted service members, and 4.5% increase for all others.
Leadership from AGLPA and Great Lakes St. Lawrence Seaway Development Corp. visited to discuss ways we can increase interlake trade across Lake Erie and throughout our Great Lakes region. It is vital to build upon existing trade relationships with Canada, our largest international trading partner.
