It was wonderful to celebrate Juneteenth with the Southland Regional Mayors Black Caucus! I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished together to bring progress, opportunity, and innovation to communities across the Southland.
The list of lives stolen by gun violence is far too long. I carry the names of victims and their families with me every time I walk into Congress. Their memories deserve more than thoughts and prayers. They deserve action.
Instead of lowering rent and mortgage costs, Trump is prioritizing election conspiracies and his own political survival over a bipartisan housing affordability bill. How on brand for the President.
I stand with @replamonica.bsky.social. She’s facing 17 years in prison for doing her job, for conducting constitutional oversight and demanding answers from ICE. Black women have always stood up to protect our communities, and LaMonica does not stand alone.
Four years after SCOTUS overturned Roe, women are still paying the price. Politicians should not make personal healthcare decisions for patients and their doctors. I’m fighting to restore reproductive freedom and protect your bodily autonomy.
Every mother deserves high-quality, equitable care, regardless of zip code or skin color. I introduced the WELLS Act after my constituent, Mercedes Wells, who was discharged in active labor. We need to address inequalities in our healthcare system before it is too late.
Millions of American families are struggling to afford basic necessities like groceries and housing. House Republicans gifted $70 billion to an unaccountable ICE, proving their priorities are completely out of touch with the real pain everyday people are feeling.
I cannot talk about the gun violence epidemic without addressing suicide. Access to a gun triples the risk of death, yet Republicans continue to put gun lobby interests over safety. Their empty thoughts and prayers won't save lives. Passing meaningful reform will.
Last week, House Republicans released a $1 trillion Pentagon budget, the highest ever. They slashed Medicaid and are kicking 150k+ Illinoisians off food assistance. I am sick of Republicans trading basic human needs for Trump’s endless war.
The damage from gun violence doesn't stop when the tape comes down. The trauma alters how our children walk to school and how families live their lives. We need federal resources to treat the long-term psychological weight of this epidemic on our communities.
I’m still demanding full transparency on the Epstein files.  Piecemeal leaks are not enough. Survivors deserve answers and accountability.   Americans deserve to know who enabled this abuse so that we ensure it never happens again.
Unsecured guns in the home harm too many kids.    @bradyunited.org ASK Day calls on all of us to ask one direct question before a child visits another home: Is there an unlocked gun in your home?    Just one question can prevent loss.
Wishing all fathers, grandfathers, and father figures a joyful day with those they love. Thank you for all that you do. Today, I’m remembering my late father, Jesse Kelly, and my late husband, Nate Horn. Their love helped shape our family, and their memories stay with us every day.
We rely on the Great Lakes everyday. Nearly 20% of the nation’s fresh water comes from Lake Michigan. Clean water, safe air, and a healthy environment aren’t optional. I will keep advocating to protect them for our future.
Young adults thrive when they have safe spaces, mentors, and real opportunities. I am continuing to invest in youth programs that strengthen our community, giving our kids hands-on skills and equipping the next generation of leaders.
Trump says there’s no money for healthcare, but he found billions for a war no one wants. While Americans are worried about paying bills, affording healthcare, and keeping their families safe, Trump is busy attacking President Obama. How pathetic.
Innovation shouldn't come at the cost of basic safety. My SAFE Exit Act recently cleared the @energycommerce.bsky.social to set the first federal safety standard for EV doors, ensuring passengers can always escape in an emergency or power loss.
