I was proud to honor the life of Barry del Buono, who led Loaves and Fishes Family Kitchen and Emergency Housing Consortium–on the House Floor and at his funeral mass this weekend. With his passing, I lost a childhood hero, and our community lost a champion.
We cannot allow MBS to hold a large equity stake in a company that includes news sources like CNN, and that holds the sensitive personal data of more than 100 million Americans. This deal threatens our national security. 2/2
More than $24B of Paramount's bid for Warner Brothers comes from foreign sovereign wealth, much of it controlled by the Saudi dictator, Mohammed bin Salman (“MBS”), who directed the brutal killing of a Washington Post journalist. 1/2

California is the largest donor state to the federal government—in FY24 we paid $275.6 billion more to the federal government than we received in federal aid. Any attempt to cut off our tax dollars from coming back home will be met with fierce legal action.

The latest investigation into Fed Chair Powell further cements that Pam Bondi lacks the independence and integrity required to lead the Department of Justice. She must resign.

This investigation represents a deeply troubling pattern of abuse of prosecutorial power for political intimidation. Attorney General Pam Bondi must resign her office.

I've heard from many neighbors with concerns about U.S. actions in Venezuela, ICE enforcement, and other important issues. I want to hear your thoughts directly and discuss how I’m responding to these developments. Register at the link below. [1/2]
There’s a lot of information coming at you about Venezuela and health care. Let’s talk about it. #sipwithsam
Few expect the Senate to pass this three-year extension, so it’s imperative that Senate leadership advance pragmatic alternatives, like the bipartisan Fix It Act that I co-authored with Republican Kevin Kiley—the only ACA extension that also reduces our deficit. [2/2]

Today, I voted for common sense. Several House Republicans joined a unanimous group of Democrats to extend affordable care tax credits for three years to mitigate the impact of skyrocketing premiums on millions of families. [1/2]
I’m grateful to the community leaders who helped advance these projects, and proud of what we accomplished together. I’ll keep working across the aisle to bring more of our dollars back to our community in the months ahead. [2/2]
Our federal tax dollars are coming back home—strengthening coastside resilience, building our innovation economy workforce, and enhancing public safety. [1/2]
Thank you to the Senate for letting common sense prevail—I look forward to voting for this resolution when it comes to the House Floor.

I'm not Marty Supreme, so why is Congress playing ping pong?
Sending armed ICE agents—typically lacking any training or experience in urban policing—into our neighborhoods leads to tragically violent outcomes like this.
Praying for this woman’s family, and for the Minneapolis community.
Wishing all who celebrate a happy Epiphany—a day rooted in tradition, reflection, and giving.
Feliz Día de los Reyes Magos a todos quienes lo celebran, un día de tradición, reflexión y generosidad.
Turns out that the dismantling of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau isn't just awful for consumers; it's bad for many banks, too.
