A company that undermines free speech under political pressure cannot dominate Sacramento’s airwaves. We deserve better. The country deserves better. [2/2]

Nexstar took Jimmy Kimmel off the air in pursuit of favor with the FCC and President Trump to protect their multi-billion-dollar merger with Tegna instead of the First Amendment. This is completely unacceptable. [1/2]
Kari’s Law was enacted after tragic circumstances led to a young child being unable to reach 9-1-1 from a hotel phone.
My legislation will ensure that critical protections enacted by Congress are working as intended, and that no American is ever prevented from reaching 9-1-1 in their time of need.
If people can’t reach 9-1-1 during a major event, we should know why, and we should have a clear plan to fix it before the next crisis hits.
That’s why Congress must pass the bipartisan Emergency Reporting Act and Kari’s Law Reporting Act. [3/3]
The Emergency Reporting Act is about learning from failures quickly, transparently, and with accountability, so the next disaster doesn’t become a repeat of the last. [2/3]
During the tragic 2018 Camp Fire in Northern California our emergency communications systems faced significant challenges. More than half of initial calls to 9-1-1 never got through, and emergency alert system warnings weren’t consistently sent out. [1/3]
Office hours will be held at our Elk Grove office tomorrow, 12/16, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. If you are having trouble with a federal agency or have any questions, please stop by—we’d be happy to assist you!
What should have been a joyful gathering on Bondi Beach was shattered by a horrific and antisemitic attack. Violence born from hate has no place in this world. [2/2]
Yesterday marked the first night of Hanukkah, a festival of light, hope, and perseverance. For millions of families, it is a time to come together in dedication to faith and community. [1/2]
I will continue to push for sensible gun violence legislation that saves lives and protects our communities.
Future generations deserve our full commitment to their safety and their dreams.
For many young people, that sense of safety was broken long ago, and each new act of violence deepens the wound. We have a responsibility to act—both for the victims and to prevent this from happening again.
Students at Brown University should be focusing on their final exams and looking forward to winter break. Instead, they're coping with the trauma of a tragic mass shooting. Our schools and universities are meant to be places of learning and safety, yet that sense of peace has been shattered again.
There’s a reason this scheme couldn’t get through Congress—it’s bad policy with broad, bipartisan resistance. And I’ll keep pushing back against this overreach. [3/3]
These measures build trust and keep people safe. Trump’s order would block states from responding to real, evolving risks. It’s a gift to big tech at the expense of everyday Americans. [2/3]
Donald Trump signed an Executive Order to override state and local AI protections—the same moratorium I’ve fought from day one. With no federal AI framework in place, states like California have stepped up with safeguards that protect the public while keeping innovation and competition strong. [1/3]
Among the many disastrous provisions in this bill, the PERMIT Act would give President Trump the authority to declare any body of water exempt from Clean Water Act protections.
Americans want our government to do more to protect our lakes, rivers, and streams. Not less! [2/2]
Americans overwhelmingly support the Clean Water Act, but Republicans' PERMIT Act would gut this landmark environmental law, threatening millions of Americans' drinking water. [1/2]
Senate Republicans promised a vote on the expiring premium tax credits that keep millions of Americans healthy and save families money -- but when it came down to it, they voted to let them expire.
When the enhanced premium tax credits expire, they'll have no one to blame but themselves.
If you are having trouble with a federal agency or just have questions, please come visit my office hours in Elk Grove this Friday from 10am-2pm.
My team will be there and happy to help you!
Trump went to a casino to remind everyone that trusting him to save Americans money is a gamble no family can afford.
The only “hoax” happening here is his grift that is enriching himself and his friends at the cost of your wellbeing.
