Stories like this are why I'll keep fighting against Trump's immigration system that terrorizes communities and tears families apart - and why I'll keep working to end ICE.
But because they're a mixed-status family, they feared Trump's immigration system would tear them apart. So they left the country rather than risk being separated. No family should have to flee the country just to stay together.
The Cruz family built their life in New York. Rachel is a public school teacher. Irvi worked multiple jobs. Their daughters - Sara (12) and Ana (10) - are U.S. citizens.
Congratulations to Newark’s own Michael B. Jordan on his historic win last night at the Oscars! Thank you for inspiring kids across New Jersey that anything is possible when you work hard and dream big. Keep making Newark proud. 👏
📍Spending time with the Hoboken Elks ☘️ It was a pleasure to join the Hoboken Elks for their St. Patrick’s Day celebration. Congratulations to this year’s honorees!
📍 United Irish Association of West Hudson St. Patrick's Day Parade 🇮🇪 So great to see everyone today! It's always an honor to celebrate our proud, longstanding, Irish-American community this month & every month! ☘️
This site will provide new amenities for children and families and create a great new community space. Every kid deserves to grow up surrounded with spaces where they can thrive.
📍Delivering federal funding in West New York 🙌 Proud to join Mayor Sires in announcing $1.2 million in federal funding for a new recreation center and sports complex.
Families who use SNAP and WFNJ shouldn’t have to worry about scammers stealing their benefits. That’s why I’ve introduced legislation to crack down on scams by improving coordination between the federal government, consumer advocates, and local law enforcement.
📍Saint Peter’s University in Jersey City 📚 Had a productive conversation with Dr. Benitez & university leaders about the incredible work they're doing & how we can continue partnering in Congress to support workforce development & ensure SPU students have every opportunity for success.
This is direct proof that the Trump Admin had ZERO plan to lower costs & put working families first. House Democrats are ready to deliver real solutions that make life more affordable for New Jersey families & ensure no one has to think twice about important health decisions.
Ensuring Heights University Hospital remains operational for our residents could not be of greater importance. We cannot allow private interests to take priority over the health and safety of our communities. Everyone deserves access to healthcare close to home. Save Heights Hospital.
📍Celebrating Women's History Month in Newark 🙌 Such an honor to recognize so many outstanding students across Essex County during Women's History Month. Our future is bright with this next generation of women leading the charge. Let’s continue to break down barriers & fight for equality.
It’s absurd that so many New Jersey fans are priced out of the 2026 World Cup after FIFA abandoned its promise to keep tickets affordable. Host cities are covering major costs for infrastructure, security, and events, while our own communities are shut out of the games.
That's why Rep. Jerry Nadler and I are leading our colleagues in an effort to include critical safety provisions for our region in comprehensive helicopter safety legislation being considered by @transportdems.bsky.social. We will not relent in this fight.
