Trump’s directive to eliminate the Department of Education is shameful, cruel, & morally bankrupt.
The President cannot take this action unilaterally, which is why, alongside Democratic colleagues, I’ll be fighting back tooth and nail to protect the essential mission of the Department of Education.
Americans contribute to Social Security their entire working lives — they deserve access to their own EARNED benefits.
The Trump/Musk actions are setting the stage to gut these benefits for seniors. My Democratic colleagues and I are standing up against these attacks.
The numbers don't lie: the Republican budget benefits are a windfall for the richest 5% while jacking up costs for bottom 40%.
@housebudgetdems.bsky.social are fighting tooth and nail to stop their plans and restore a fair tax code that works for working-class Americans.
Happy St Joseph’s Day!
As Rhode Islanders celebrate and line up across our state for zeppole, I stopped by Julianna’s Italian Bakery in Cumberland to pick up some of the beloved treats for our team. I wish everyone a wonderful celebration of our Italian community’s faith and heritage.
This only hurts seniors from receiving their earned benefits.
It’s impossible to spin this any other way — Republicans are gutting Social Security.
The Department of Government “Efficiency” continues to show that they do not care about seniors.
It defies logic to eliminate phone operators at Social Security, shut down field offices nationwide, and then require Americans to apply in-person.
Throughout the visit, I was reminded of the critical role that Medicaid plays in supporting maternal health care for new and expecting mothers in our state. #SaveMedicaid
Visited the brand-new Labor and Delivery Center at Women and Infants Hospital today to explore how they’re supporting growing Rhode Island families with updated facilities and more individualized care.
American workers, farmers, and aid producers — as well as our national interest — have been needlessly harmed by this reckless and illegal action.
President Trump, Secretary Rubio, and Elon Musk must immediately allow USAID to continue its essential work.
Today, a federal judge confirmed what is clear as day in the Constitution — only Congress can reorganize USAID, a federal agency it created.
Proposed cuts would widen coverage gaps & put those struggling with mental health & substance use disorders at even greater risk. We must #SaveMedicaid.
Roughly 40% of Medicaid enrollees in Rhode Island struggle with mental illness.
If Republicans make Medicaid cuts of nearly $900 billion, the harm to RI and communities across our nation would be astronomical.
Rhode Island's congressional delegation is united against Republican attacks on Medicaid and we will always stand up for people seeking healthcare. #SaveMedicaid
This Medicaid Day of Action, I joined mental health care leaders to discuss how Republican-proposed cuts would harm the patients and providers who need the essential funding for behavioral care in our state.
Since 1898, Union Station has been a place to connect Providence with the rest of our region & country.
Today, the Marsella family and great partners carried on that legacy with the opening of Track 15 — an exciting new food hall that has created jobs & will continue to make PVD a culinary capital.
Growing up in Rhode Island, I’ve always benefitted from the kind eyes, warm hearts, deep faith, and good luck of Irish-Americans — today, we’re all Irish! 🇮🇪
As we celebrate today in Providence, I’m wishing all Rhode Islanders a Happy Saint Patrick’s Day!☘️
Hunger cannot become a partisan issue — we have a moral duty to stand up & ensure that no RIer goes hungry.
At RI Community Food Bank, I gathered with local food assistance organizations to discuss how Republican-proposed budget cuts would affect vulnerable neighbours who rely on their services.
If Republicans succeed in their plans to slash SNAP and Medicaid to give tax cuts billionaires, there will be a massive impact on places like the MLK Center that provide a lifeline to many of our neighbors.
We can’t let that happen.
Visited the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center in Newport to highlight their work fighting hunger, promoting health, and educating seniors.
Despite what’s going on across our country, it’s still important to take time to celebrate the joy and strength of our shared diversity.
Grateful to join our vibrant Ghanaian-American community to recognize their immense contributions to Rhode Island. 🇬🇭🇺🇸
