I’m leading 152 of my @housedemocrats.bsky.social colleagues to demand answers on Trump’s illegal cut to NIH research funding.
American innovation makes us the envy of the world — we can’t afford cuts to programs that cure disease, grow jobs, and sustain local economies.
There you have it.
Every Republican on the Budget Committee just exposed our middle class to higher costs, Medicaid recipients to benefit cuts, and gutted programs that feed kids.
All this betrayal to cut taxes for their billionaire friends.
That’s it, that’s the headline.
The GOP budget fails to prevent 4 million Americans from losing health coverage by the end of the year.
A 60-year-old couple in RI earning $82,000 a year would see their yearly premium rise by over $14,000.
That’s not a typo!
This is a betrayal to the middle class. Full stop.
The proposed Republican budget resolution lays to rest the idea that lowering costs for working Americans is a priority.
How could they?
In #RI01, their plan would eliminate $1,150 in savings on energy bills and gut programs that increase home values between $9,800 and $23,000.
For Rhode Island seniors on Medicare Part D who live on fixed incomes, raising prescription costs by $200 a month is a non-starter.
I urge my GOP colleagues to do something to help them instead of gutting sections of the Inflation Reduction Act that make it easier to afford medication.
Congressman Brian Mast, I will apologize for ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
URI in my state still can’t access funds. People have died from the foreign aid freeze. And aid to stop the spread of Ebola still hasn’t been released.
POV: sitting in my first @housebudgetdems.bsky.social hearing ready to call out the Republican betrayal of the American middle class.
Their plan to hurt workers and seniors in order to cut taxes for the richest 1% is unacceptable!
I’m co-leading the Honoring Our Fallen Heroes Act with @scanlon.house.gov, Congressman Gimenez, and Congressman Fitzpatrick to expand federal support for those brave leaders and their families if impacted by service-related cancer.
In Rhode Island and across our country, firefighters and first responders put their lives on the line to keep us safe.
Oh c’mon.
As I sit in a @houseforeign.bsky.social hearing right now on Trump’s extreme actions to dismantle USAID funding, it’s almost comical to see my Republican colleagues support this cartoonish level of corruption from the world’s richest man.

You don't need a PhD to realize that Republicans are using reconciliation to betray the middle class.
In fact, all you need is a little Schoolhouse Rock:

As part of @housebudgetdems.bsky.social, I’ll fight against this bad deal for our country.
🚨House Republicans released their budget blueprint🚨
What you need to know:
- Pg 35 cuts Medicaid
- Pg 37 increases federal debt by $4 Trillion
They’re cutting benefits for kids, families & seniors to pay for billionaire tax cuts.
Empty promises of transparency today from Elon and Trump at the White House.
Their words don’t mean much when you fire someone for accurately reporting that $500 million in food aid was going to spoil because of DOGE.
On snowy and stormy days, NOAA and NWS provide the weather forecasting data that our entire country relies on.
We can’t dismantle this agency that protects American lives and property, keeps air travel safe, informs climate action, and strengthens our economy.
DOGE is taking a sledgehammer to NOAA — realizing the Project 2025 goal of dismantling and privatizing the agency.
I joined my fellow ranking members on the Science, Space, and Technology Committee to demand answers and protect their crucial work.
Democrats on @houseforeign.bsky.social are pushing back on Trump's illegal attempt to dismantle USAID.
Thank you @sarajacobs.house.gov for your leadership to restore this essential agency that supports American farmers and businesses while saving countless lives around the world.
