Congratulations to RI National Guard’s new Adjunct General for Rhode Island: Brigadier General Andrew J. Chevalier!
Honored to join the Change of Command Ceremony today and thank Major General Chris Callahan for his over 40 years of dedicated service to our state.
This court action reaffirms what we know to be true: the Trump Administration is acting unlawfully in trying undo the work of Congress to invest in our communities.
We’ll continue to fight against the chaos and disruption to our shared priorities.
“I am grateful for Judge McConnell’s careful consideration of this matter and for seeing the irreparable harm that this directive would cause," R.I. Attorney General Peter Neronha said in a statement.
Story by @elisherman.bsky.social and @timwhiteri.bsky.social:

Celebrated 50 years of the Earned Income Tax Credit with United Way RI by discussing my work on @housebudgetdems.bsky.social to ensure no one’s left behind.
I'll continue fighting proposed Republican cuts to programs for the many & tax breaks for the well-connected few.
The recent anti-LGBTQ+ measures signed by @POTUS are discriminatory and cruel.
Executive actions cannot override the constitution, federal law, and medical best practices.
I will continue to work with my @equality.house.gov colleagues to fight these attacks on our fellow Americans.
At a summit hosted by the Oceantic Network, I advocated for protecting the gains we've made as a leader in offshore wind — hundreds of family-sustaining jobs that don’t require a college degree and progress on climate action to build a better clean energy future for Rhode Islanders.
Congratulations to our #RI01 2024 #CongressionalAppChallenge Winner, Seryn Lee!
Seryn’s app, JENA, was created to build connections between seniors and those experiencing academic inequality.📱
Thanks for coming to our district office to share more about your work!
As Vice Ranking Member of @houseforeign.bsky.social, I’m sharing this thread highlighting how the first nine days of the Trump Administration have negatively impacted our leadership on the global stage:
After the chaos and confusion caused by Trump’s illegal federal funding freeze, I met with staff at Children’s Friend who had to scramble to make payroll this week.
I’ll continue to stand with our most vulnerable Rhode Islanders as we fight against the Republican rip off.
Keeping the victims of the tragic plane crash at DCA and their families in my thoughts and prayers today, including the Barrington, RI community members who lost their lives.
Thank you to the first responders for their immediate recovery efforts and ongoing work.
Great visit to the Brickle Group, a third-generation family manufacturing business in Woonsocket.
Since 1937, they’ve been leaders in textiles & fiber recycling — even creating berets & blankets for West Point Military Academy and wool for official MLB baseballs!
Happy Lunar New Year to all those celebrating in #RI01 and across the country!
As we welcome the Year of the Snake, I hope the new year brings happiness and good health to all!🐍
Trump is causing chaos, confusion, and pain nationwide for Head Start providers and Community Health Centers and many more — only to claim to take back this illegal act after public shaming.
Let’s be clear, this is an opening act.
We must remain vigilant and hold them accountable.
Easy to miss this amid the firehose of news but the White House illegally fired a @cwaunion.bsky.social member working at the NLRB — the body that holds CEOs accountable for abusing workers.
This is a slap in the face to America's workers. Add it to the list we're fighting back on.
This is how we fight back against Trump and the Republicans' funding freeze that harms Rhode Island.
Thank you @peterneronha.bsky.social for standing in the breach of this unlawful, chaotic power grab by the President.
AG Neronha co-leads 23 AGs in suing to stop Trump Admin. from withholding essential federal funding in US District Court for the District of RI.
"Any pause to federal funding programs would have immediate and catastrophic effects for RIers and Americans everywhere"
www.riag.ri.gov/press-releas...
As a member of the Science, Space, & Technology Committee, I helped kick off the RI Life Science Hub’s Neuroscience Symposium to showcase our state’s leadership in biomedical innovation.
In the wake of potential funding freezes, supporting this life-changing research has never been more important.
We also saw everyday Rhode Islanders making their voices heard to stop this illegal power grab.
We can’t let up.
Today, we saw an attempt by President Trump to irreparably harm essential programs with a federal funding freeze.
From a Head Start provider in #RI01:
“Yesterday, we initiated a $500k drawdown as we have payroll on Thursday. It should’ve been deposited in our bank. It’s not in our account and we’re unable to log in to check on the status.”
This is what chaos looks like.
End the Trump funding freeze now.
5/ Our higher education communities — including students, faculty, and researchers — are calling about grant review panels.
This includes lifesaving funding through the National Institutes of Health to tackle cancers, chronic illness, and other critical areas.
4/ The Ocean State Center for Independent Living supports over 28,000 individuals with disabilities.
Without federal funds appropriated by Congress, they can’t carry out their essential work.
