I’ll continue to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with working people across Delaware and across the country: defending the right to organize, protecting collective bargaining, strengthening unions, and building an economy where every worker is treated with dignity and respect. 💪
On Labor Day, we honor the generations of working people & labor unions who fought for rights we too often take for granted—safer workplaces, fair pay & benefits, and yes, even the weekend. But our work is far from done—Trump’s attacks on workers & unions make clear just how much we must defend.
I recently joined Ezion Fair Baptist Church and FHLBank Pittsburgh to celebrate the near completion of ten new affordable housing units in Southbridge. This project is about more than housing—it’s about making sure more of our neighbors have access to safety, stability, & the dignity they deserve.

2/ That’s why I’ve already taken action to defuse this bomb by co-sponsoring the Protecting Health Care and Lowering Costs Act—legislation to repeal these cuts and permanently extend ACA premium tax credits. We must do all we can to protect the care so many of our neighbors depend on.

1/ While in New Castle last week, I joined my dear friend State Senator Marie Pinkney and health care leaders from across Delaware to discuss Trump’s devastating Medicaid cuts. They were clear: gutting this lifeline isn’t belt-tightening—it’s cruelty.

I visited Southern Delaware Therapeutic Riding in Milton, which for nearly four decades has connected people with disabilities to therapeutic horseback riding. Their work offers a place—and friends like Gulliver’s Travels and Appy—to build confidence, resilience, and companionship.

1/ I was glad to be back in Western Sussex County recently—this time to tour Royale Pigments & Chemicals’ new manufacturing site in Seaford. Royale develops specialty colorants used in paints, coatings, & flame-resistant materials.

Great to join Meals on Wheels Lewes-Rehoboth to deliver meals. Meals on Wheels is a vital community partner here in Delaware—helping our most vulnerable neighbors live independently and with dignity.

Another unconscionable act of violence has shattered yet another community—this time at a Catholic grade school in Minneapolis, MN. Students deserve more than thoughts and prayers—they deserve to be safe at school. My heart is with the victims, the injured, and their families as they grieve.
Great to cut the ribbon on the Delaware Black Chamber of Commerce (DEBCC)’s new headquarters and incubator space this morning! The DEBCC empowers Black-owned small businesses across our communities—and I'm proud to be working with them to champion entrepreneurs and innovators from all backgrounds.

3/ As we reflected on the courage to keep fighting for democracy, I was humbled to receive the Courageous Leader Award—recognition of our shared commitment to protect our democracy from authoritarian power grabs.

2/ I was grateful to join Rev. Dr. Ronald Whitaker of Mother African Union Church, his congregation, community members, and leaders including Lt. Gov. Kyle Evans Gay, New Castle County Executive Marcus Henry, and Mayor John Carney to mark the start of this year’s festival.

1/ Each year, the August Quarterly Festival—our nation’s longest-running celebration of religious freedom for Black Americans—brings Wilmington together to honor the legacy of Peter Spencer, founder of the first independent African American church in the United States.
1/ Stopped by the Delmarva Central Railroad headquarters in Harrington alongside @coons.senate.gov & @bluntrochester.senate.gov to check in on the infrastructure upgrades being made to its tracks, highway and road crossings, and bridges.
