Today is International Electricians Day! As the only electrician in Congress and a member of Local IBEW 351, I am proud to fight for my union brothers and sisters as a co-chair of @laborcaucus.house.gov and by serving on @democrats-edworkforce.house.gov‬.
62 years ago today, the Equal Pay Act of 1963 became law, aiming to eliminate wage disparities based on gender discrimination. Yet, women working full-time jobs earn, on average, only 83 cents for every dollar that men in similar jobs earn. It’s time we close the wage gap.
This Men’s Health Month, we must bring awareness to the unique health challenges men face. A reminder to schedule that check-up. We can’t always “walk it off.” Your future self (and family) will thank you.
Harm reduction works, and the numbers prove it. Overdose deaths dropped last year thanks to tools like Narcan and expanded treatment. We need to protect and invest in these programs, not cut them. Lives depend on it.
Today is World Oceans Day! The Jersey Shore is more than a summer getaway; it's our home, heritage, and hope for the next generation. Let’s protect our waters so our kids can enjoy it the same way we always have.
Workers rely on accurate inflation data to determine fair wages, benefits, and cost-of-living. Slashing consumer price data takes away information and power for workers by rigging the system to benefit the wealthy. We should invest in workers, not leave them in the dark.
Today is National Gun Violence Awareness Day. Today, and everyday we remember those we have lost to senseless acts of gun violence. We must honor their memories by enacting common-sense gun reforms and making sure that no one else suffers from gun violence.
81 years ago today on D-Day at Normandy Beach, the Allied Forces conducted the largest seaborne invasion in history. I have had the honor of visiting Normandy twice and stood in reflection among the graves of those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.
Violence intervention programs have made a real difference in Camden, saving lives, building trust, and keeping communities safe. Cutting their funding now, just as summer begins, is dangerous and shortsighted. www.njspotlightnews.org/video/fundin...
Trump's plan will evict hundreds of thousands of seniors, veterans, and people with disabilities already on fixed incomes, and would force homeless shelters to halt operations at a time when more than 771,000 people are experiencing homelessness across America.
