I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Loyola’s Sister Jean. An inspiration for so many students over the years, Sister Jean’s kind and lively personality won the hearts of our nation. Her spirit will continue to live on through the lives she touched.
In these difficult, uncertain times, my office is open and my team and I are here to help.

Chicagoans are terrified right now because of these ICE raids.
We need all Americans to know what’s really going on here.

NEWS: Ranking Members Raskin and Swalwell issued the following statement on Senate Republicans’ latest attacks on the Department of Justice’s investigation and prosecution of Trump and his co-conspirators for their criminal conspiracy to overturn the 2020 presidential election.
We will not stand by while the Trump Administration terrorizes our neighbors. See my statement on the deployment of the National Guard below.
The Center offers several wraparound services for community members, including free access to gender-affirming clothes, a monthly therapy group, and individual health referrals.
To learn more about the Center, go to centeronhalsted.org/center-on-cottage-grove.
I recently got to visit the Center on Cottage Grove. As the Woodlawn satellite site of the Center on Halsted, the Center on Cottage Grove serves our city's Black and Brown LGBTQ+ residents on the South Side.
Conversion therapy is a dangerous scam, and no kid should be subjected to it.
Today, the Supreme Court is considering a case that could overturn Colorado's ban on conversion therapy.
I was proud to join an amicus brief against this case and cosponsor @reptedlieu.bsky.social’s bill that would ban this cruel practice nationwide.
We learned how to peacefully de-escalate encounters with ICE, how to help those being targeted, and how to engage in mutual aid.

Trump is sending the National Guard to Chicago, but Chicagoans are already facing raids and intimidation from ICE agents. This weekend, I joined over 700 of our neighbors at a community workshop led by the 40th Ward. (1/2)
He's wasting millions of dollars occupying American cities — tear-gassing cops and zip-tying children — instead of negotiating with Democrats to reopen the government. (2/2)
In the middle of a government shutdown, Trump is sending the National Guard to Chicago in an illegal attempt to intimidate and punish our city. (1/2)
Mike Johnson is delaying the swearing in of Congresswoman-elect Adelita Grijalva, the last vote needed on releasing the #Epstein files.
Arizona residents deserve a representative, and Speaker Johnson needs to allow the House to vote!
I want to thank La Casa Norte for allowing me to visit their food pantry this week. La Casa Norte’s pantry, health clinic, and homeless shelter serve Chicagoans every day.
We need to fight this CR if we want to keep places like La Casa Norte open. #RepublicanShutdown
I might not like to look at needles, but I was happy to get my flu and COVID vaccines this week!💉
Make sure to get your shots as flu season starts up.
Trump is weaponizing the #RepublicanShutdown to try to cut $2.1 billion in already-approved funding for our public transit system. Chicagoans pay more in federal taxes than they will ever get in return.
I’m proud to stand with @govpritzker.illinois.gov and fight for Chicago’s money.
- Used a Black Hawk helicopter and sawed their way into apartment buildings
- Chased down residents of a shelter on their way to work
This was never about making us feel safer. They are terrorizing Chicago's children, and we will not let this stand
In just the last week here in Chicago, ICE has:
- Marched through major tourist attractions zip-tying families
- Rented U-Hauls to drive around at night in tactical gear
