This ALS Awareness Month, I’m calling on every member of Congress to help us reauthorize the ACT for ALS — and continue all the progress we’ve made.

I’m glad to see that the ‘Alligator Alcatraz’ detention facility is closing. But over two-thirds of the detainees there are still unaccounted for. In January, the @miamiherald.com said 800 people showed no record at all in ICE’s online database.

On this day 61 years ago, #HeadStart began helping parents and families by providing preschool programming and other services. Today, Head Start has served over 40 million kids and proven to be one of our nation's strongest investments.
This field will replace the current deteriorated asphalt-and-grass area, which has been dangerous to many students. The new field will have rubber running track, a soccer field, a scoreboard, and lighting.
I recently got to speak with some of the parents, teachers, and students of Onahan Elementary School, a CPS school in my district. Last year, I secured $850,000 in federal funds to build a new artificial turf field for Onahan.
