I sent a letter to Secretary Wright urging the Administration to prioritize Lithium Valley for the Frontier Observatory for Research in Geothermal Energy program. Lithium Valley has the potential to create job opportunities, strengthen manufacturing, & lowering battery costs for families.

I had an informative meeting with immigration advocates in Imperial Valley. We discussed the Humanitarian Standards for Individuals in ICE and CBP Custody Act and so much more.
Up until now, all presidents accepted the election results, walked away from power because they knew it belonged to the people and facilitated a peaceful transfer of power.
Up until now, they respected our constitution, and didn’t blatantly use the office to enrich themselves and their family.
On this President’s Day I want to give special remembrance to our very first president, George Washington, who walked away from power when he could have kept it, respected our constitution and Democracy and gave much more to the nation than he received.
All presidents have done so up until now.
This directly impacts our region and public lands. While I support common sense solutions for border security, I am requesting more clarity because border policy decisions should center around transparency, community voices, and human dignity, not secrecy and force.
I sent a letter with Reps. @vargas.house.gov and Grijalva to Navy Secretary Phelan to request more information about the new National Defense Area that have been established across the Arizona and California border, including the El Centro Sector.
This historic milestone is long-awaited and well deserved. C.I.N.C. serves over 100 Tribes nationwide with 76% of their enrollment being first-generation college students!
I commend C.I.N.C. as it continues to make higher education accessible throughout Indian country and our district, CA-25.
Congratulations to California Indians Nations College (C.I.N.C.) for reaching accreditation and becoming the first Tribal College in California to do so in over 20 years!
From infrastructure to public safety, these direct investments are building a stronger future for every corner of CA-25.

Congratulations to One Stop Taco Shop for winning first place!
Being in the community feeds my soul. It was great joining the Indio Black History Month Celebration and recognizing my friend, Councilmember Waymon Fermon who served as the City of Indio’s first Black Mayor and all the ceremony’s honorees who make a difference daily.
It took 3 visits and a court order to allow me entrance to Adelanto Detention Center to provide oversight and investigate conditions inside.
I introduced legislation to ensure that non-criminal immigrants and U.S. citizens receive their basic needs and are treated humanely.
