I just voted NO on House Republicans' Big, Bad Billionaires' Bill.
It will add $3.8 trillion to the national debt in order to shovel massive tax breaks to billionaires and corporations. And they will make America’s middle class and working families pay the price.
Led the House in a moment of silence to honor my friend, Congressman Gerry Connolly. www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9en...
This terrible bill gives massive tax breaks to the wealthy, kicks nearly 14 million people off their health care, slashes education funding, puts more than 18 million kids at risk of losing their school meals and explodes the deficit.
House Republicans began the final committee meeting on Trump's Big Bad Billionaires' Bill at 1 AM and it is still going. I finished my testimony earlier today.
12 hours later and we still don't have final text of the GOP’s Big, Bad Budget Bill that will kick nearly 14 million people off their health care and put more than 18 million kids at risk of losing their school meals.
I will miss our friendship and his infectious energy and humor. This is a true loss for Virginia and our entire nation. I am praying for his family, his staff and his other loved ones at this time.
It was with immense sadness that I learned of @connolly.house.gov’s passing. He was a relentless advocate for his constituents and a true public servant who loved America, the Commonwealth of Virginia and his hometown of Fairfax.

For many children, the food they receive in school is the only healthy food they will have that day.
Yet, according to the latest estimates, the Republicans' bill to give tax breaks to billionaires could result in 18.3 million children losing access to free school meals.

House Republicans are so ashamed of the GOP Tax Scam that they are planning a 1 AM committee meeting tonight to jam it through Congress.
In today's Democratic Daily Download, @repmcgovern.bsky.social breaks down what's in this ugly bill and what Democrats are doing to stop it.
I am here at the Budget Committee tonight.
Republicans, once again, voted to slash funding for health care, education and food assistance to fund more tax cuts for corporations and billionaires.
I am praying for President Biden, Dr. Biden and their entire family. The Bidens have faced adversity and they have fought cancer for many years. Wishing him a full and speedy recovery.

🚨 BREAKING: We just stopped the Republican budget bill in committee.
Whether it's adding trillions to the debt, massive giveaways to billionaires, or millions of Americans kicked off their health care, Republicans know how unpopular this bill is.
We wont stop fighting back.
🚨UPDATE: @housebudgetdems.bsky.social all stuck together and we were able to take this bill down in Committee.
At the Budget Committee fighting the GOP's budget. It increases the deficit, kicks millions of people off health care, threatens food security for millions of families, makes it harder for students to afford education and gives corporations & billionaires a tax cut. www.youtube.com/watch?v=A5as...

The Republican budget cuts food assistance to help pay for tax cuts for billionaires. On today’s Democratic Daily Download, @repshontelbrown.bsky.social shows how House Democrats are fighting back every step of the way.
@markwarner.bsky.social, @kaine.senate.gov, @repsuhas.bsky.social and I held a Commonwealth Coffee in honor of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month to celebrate the rich contributions made by the AANHPI community to our country.
Hampton Roads, like many coastal communities, relies on the expertise of those working at NOAA and the National Weather Service during hurricane season to stay safe.
Donald Trump and Elon Musk were reckless in firing these civil servants.

The Republican plan for the largest cut to food assistance in history will leave everyday Americans hungrier and poorer— all to fund tax breaks for billionaires.
@repangiecraig.bsky.social explains how cutting basic needs programs will make life harder for kids, farmers, seniors and veterans.
Hampton Roads is a at high-risk for rising sea levels. Our communities need support to combat coastal flooding.
But House Republicans are voting to slash investments in resilience and clean energy to fund tax cuts for corporations and billionaires.
