I cannot support a bill giving funds to DHS that doesn't rein in masked ICE agents who are terrorizing our communities, tear-gassing babies, going door to door, raiding homes without a warrant, and holding American citizens, even children, at gunpoint.

More than 30 people have died in DHS custody over the last year.
Last weekend, it was one of my constituents.
He developed a medical issue and, by all reports other than the DHS official report, was denied medical care that might have saved his life.
The people should decide elections, and our government should work for all Americans, not just large corporations and the top 1%.

Many crisis pregnancy centers have abused public dollars by promoting an anti-abortion agenda instead of providing food, diapers, and support for pregnant women and families.
Pregnant and parenting students need practical resources while pursuing their education, not government-mandated propaganda and a bill that would do nothing to protect their civil rights after this administration gutted the Department of Education last year.
The White House is blocking congressional oversight of immigrant detention centers, amidst horrific reports of cruel treatment of detainees, denial of access to counsel and medical care, and extended periods of detention for people with no criminal records. We must pass this bill.
I have co-sponsored the Dignity for Detained Immigrants Act because we must end inhumane conditions in detention centers and protect the civil and human rights of immigrants.
The number of deaths and documented instances of harsh and inhumane conditions in U.S. immigration detention centers are exploding under this administration, as billions of taxpayer dollars are funneled into for-profit prison companies.
People should choose who represents them, not billionaires and corporations.
That's why I introduced my Democracy for All Amendment to overturn Citizens United and put power back in the hands of the people - where it belongs.

It was great to join Prospect Park Fire Company’s Food Drive alongside community members uplifting each other by donating much-needed food and essential items, as this administration makes it more difficult for Pennsylvanians to afford groceries and necessities.
The court confirmed what we heard in our hearing in Minneapolis last week, that ICE agents used excessive force against protesters and violated their First Amendment rights.

Our country faces attacks against voting rights, a rise in hate speech, and state-sponsored attempts to diminish Americans' civil liberties. This MLK Day reminds us that our country has faced dark chapters before, and that we must organize, educate, and continue working towards a more perfect union.
