I'm at a loss to understand why the Trump Administration would cut critical State Department funding that's going to fight fentanyl trafficking in Mexico and bring criminals to justice. More from today's @houseforeign.bsky.social hearing ⬇️
My bipartisan bill with Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick works to reconnect communities to open spaces—like the Rio Reimagined project through Phoenix—as well as spur private investment and job creation.
Hegseth and Waltz’s actions put our national security at risk. Congress must hold them accountable. I’m joining my colleagues on a Resolution of Inquiry that would force the White House to disclose to Congress all documents related to this incident so we can ensure it never happens again.
RM @meeks.house.gov: introduced a Resolution of Inquiry—a procedural tool that compels the White House to provide Congress with records—demanding answers on the reckless use of the Signal messaging app by top Trump admin officials to discuss classified military operations.
DHS Secretary Kristi Noem said, quote: “We’re going to eliminate FEMA.” Trump responded, "Great job." The Trump Administration wants to leave Americans to fend for themselves on the worst day of their lives.
Today I am in Tucson for the funeral mass of Congressman Raúl Grijalva. His life was committed to service to others. The people he represented knew his strong values and who he fought for. His kindness, moral clarity and good humor will be missed. Rest in peace, Chairman.
Hegseth and Waltz shared classified and detailed attack plans in an unsecured chat—information that could have cost American servicemembers their lives—& then lied about it to the public. This was gross incompetence at the highest level, & there must be accountability. They must resign or be fired.
FEMA has always been non-partisan. Whether you’re from a red state or a blue state, it didn’t matter—after a natural disaster, the federal government has been there to help. We’re going to fight to protect this life-saving agency from Trump and DOGE’s cuts.
Equal pay is not just the right thing to do—it helps our economy & working families to make ends meet. On #EqualPayDay I'm proud to join my colleagues in reintroducing the #PaycheckFairnessAct to ensure women are paid fairly for the work they do.
EMTALA is a federal that requires emergency rooms to stabilize patients having medical crises—including providing abortion care when necessary. But now the Trump Administration is refusing to defend this lifesaving law in court. We introduced a resolution to reaffirm Congress's intent.
Following Trump’s orders, the DOD removed webpages telling the stories of two courageous Arizonans, Pima/Akimel O’odham Marine Pfc. Ira Hayes and Hopi Army Specialist Lori Ann Piestewa. @repyassansari.bsky.social and I are calling on Secretary Hegseth for a full reinstatement of their information.
Trump's senior national security team, including the VP, used the commercial messaging app Signal to communicate detailed war plans. This massive breach of national security protocol could easily have cost American soldiers their lives.
American war planning usually takes place in highly secure facilities. But the Trump administration planned its strikes on the Houthis using a group chat—and accidentally included The Atlantic’s editor in chief, Jeffrey Goldberg. theatln.tc/IuULQFiY
Today, I joined employees and supporters of the United States Postal Service to say HELL NO to privatization of USPS. The American people want 6-day service and the confidence to know their letters and packages will arrive on time. Privatization of USPS will hit rural America especially hard.
For 15 years, the Affordable Care Act has provided a pathway for millions of Americans to have access to healthcare. With critical ACA tax credits set to expire this year, it’s time for House Republicans to work with House Democrats to protect affordable quality healthcare that families count on.
