Today is a shameful day for the U.S. Senate.
Republicans just passed a bill that will kick millions off their health care and hurt American families — all to pay for tax cuts for billionaires.
Americans everywhere must stand up to stop this Great Betrayal in the House.
We've been on the Senate floor for 25 hours fighting this awful bill.
Republicans have blocked us at every step — while rewriting the bill behind closed doors to strong-arm their members into cutting health care for 17 million people to pay for billionaire tax cuts.
Shameful.
I think Senators from both parties were surprised to learn this bill includes a $100M slush fund for OMB.
That's right — while OMB guts FEMA funding and more, they want taxpayers to give THEM an extra $100M. I introduced an amendment to stop this scam. Shame on Republicans for blocking it.
Update: We have now been at this for 22 hours and Republicans are still hard at work trying to kick 17 million Americans off their health care to pay for tax cuts for billionaires.
A part of this bill that hasn't gotten enough attention is that it includes over $162 BILLION in surplus funds for DHS, ICE, and Trump's lawless, anti-immigrant agenda.
It's so outrageous that even the Republican(!) chair of the Homeland Security Committee opposes these extra funds. Insane.
For over 15 hours, we've been offering amendment after amendment to try to change this abomination of a bill. Republicans have blocked us at every turn.
They are hellbent on ripping health care from millions to give tax cuts to billionaires. We will fight them to the bitter end.
