🚨Attention high school students! My office is hosting a virtual Service Academy Information Night tomorrow at 5:30 PM. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the five service academies and the Congressional nomination process.
From expanding long-term care through the Elizabeth Dole Act to advancing equity in women veterans’ healthcare through the Deborah Sampson Act, none of this work would be possible without strong partners like the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP).
Throughout my career in Congress, I have made it my utmost priority to serve our nation’s veterans as well as they have served us. That commitment has always been my North Star. Because at the heart of it all, this is our nation’s promise to them – and we must fight every day to uphold it.
We had a great time at our Service Academy Information Night in Thousand Oaks! It was inspiring to see so many high school students eager to learn about the five prestigious U.S. Service Academies and the Congressional nomination process.
Today, I join our nation in solemn remembrance of the 2,977 lives lost in the deadliest terrorist attack on American soil. On this 24th anniversary of September 11, we honor the courage and sacrifice of the first responders who answered the call in our nation’s darkest hours.
I cannot, in good conscience, support a bill that weakens our Armed Forces by excluding women and LGBTQ+ servicemembers from full and equal participation. Our military’s strength has always come from its diversity, talent, and unity of purpose.
Among them are amendments that would deny medical care, restrict participation based on gender or sexual orientation, and undermine workplace recognition for servicemembers and their families, all while failing to advance our strategic capabilities.
Rather than supporting all who wear the uniform, Republicans have used this bill to promote an anti-woman and anti-LGBTQ agenda. It is loaded with discriminatory and harmful provisions that target women and members of the LGBTQ+ community, none of which have anything to do with military readiness.
