I recently had the opportunity to meet with Siena from Agoura Hills, a dedicated Girl Scout running for student council. She asked thoughtful questions about the legislative process, and I loved hearing about her goals and her passion for making a difference.

Attention residents of Piru and surrounding areas! The Ventura County and LA County Fire Departments are responding to a brush fire in the Holser Canyon area, northeast of Piru. The fire began at 1:35 PM and is currently estimated at over 1,000 acres, moving east toward LA County. #CanyonFire

We have a responsibility to do better. Our commitment to those who served must be strong, consistent, and free from politics.
Too often, that promise has gone unfulfilled. Veterans continue to face barriers to care, chronic understaffing at VA facilities, and threats to essential services.
Honoring their sacrifice means more than words. It means ensuring our veterans have timely access to the care, benefits, and support they have earned, especially when they need it most.
On Purple Heart Day, we honor the extraordinary courage and sacrifice of those who were wounded in service to our country. Their bravery reminds us of the true cost of defending our freedoms and the solemn promise we have made to care for them.
We owe our veterans more than thanks – we owe them action. That means protecting the care, benefits, and dignity they deserve.
Their work is a powerful reminder of what it looks like when we uphold our promise to those who served.
This week, I visited the CalVet Veterans Home in Ventura, where dedicated staff are working every day to provide high-quality care and connect veterans and their families to the benefits they have earned.
Nearly 1.6 million veterans are enrolled in Medicaid, with many relying on it as their only source of health coverage. Deep cuts to Medicaid jeopardize their access to health care, emergency care in rural communities, and critical services like food assistance and housing support.
Our veterans answered the call to serve, and we must always answer the call to care for them.
