Instead of passing policies to lower the cost of groceries, Republicans in Congress are pushing $230 billion in SNAP cuts for those who need it most.
Their plan is to let seniors, children, and working families go hungry so that billionaires can get another tax break.
As Ranking Member of the House Veterans Affairs Technology & Modernization Subcommittee, I’m calling on VA Secretary Collins and Oracle Health to give us answers about the recent data breach at Oracle that put vets’ health records at risk.
We need to make sure our veterans' privacy is protected.
I am always blown away by the talent and creativity of young artists in #IL13, and I was excited to have more schools than ever participate in this year’s Congressional Art Competition!
I couldn’t be more excited to launch the New Dems on the Road Tour, our new initiative to hear directly from communities about the issues they care most about.
Our first stop: Phoenix, Arizona ⬇️
Today marks Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day - the solemn anniversary of the beginning of the Armenian genocide on April 24th, 1915.
Join me in remembering the 1.5 million Armenians killed, honoring the survivors, and vowing to never allow this tragedy to be erased by history.
Today, on Yom HaShoah, we remember the 6 million Jews killed by the Nazis in the Holocaust.
Let us continue to stand up against antisemitism and reaffirm our commitment to “Never Again.”
For more than 42 years, Senator Durbin has been a tireless fighter for Illinois families, a dedicated public servant, and a steadfast defender of democracy. I will be forever grateful for his personal mentorship and his leadership of our Illinois Congressional delegation.
Senator Durbin, thank you.
I visited Carle Hospital in Urbana to highlight how proposed cuts to Medicaid will impact health centers in Central Illinois. I’m going to keep fighting to protect the critical federal resources they rely on to keep their doors open and provide quality care to our communities.
Last week, the Trump Administration wiped out the National Endowment for the Humanities – and the impacts are already being felt at the University of Illinois. I joined @titus.house.gov in a letter calling for the president to restore this important program.

I’m proud to lead the House Sustainable Energy & Environment Coalition Climate Jobs Task Force, where our mission is to grow investments and create jobs in the clean energy sector. We’re building a more sustainable future where working families can thrive. #EarthDay
I’ve heard from seniors in my district about 3 hour, 6 hour wait times on the phone with the Social Security Administration. By slashing staff and closing field offices around the country, the Trump administration is making it even harder for folks to get the retirement benefits they’ve earned.
This #EarthDay, we’re fighting back against the Trump administration’s dangerous efforts to gut environmental and public health protections. Let’s continue to stand up for the future of the planet we call home.
Congratulations to Natasha O’Brien on being selected as the winner of the 2025 Congressional Art Competition! Her piece, titled Oh, Do I?, will hang in the U.S. Capitol for the next year. Thank you to all the talented young artists who participated in the competition!
Last week, I visited four local health centers to shine a light on what is at stake if Congressional Republicans push through devastating cuts to Medicaid. Speaking with providers and patients reinforced what I’ve long known—Medicaid is a lifeline for our communities.
I join millions in mourning Pope Francis, who inspired us with his moral clarity and compassionate leadership. His legacy will live on forever as a call to serve our neighbors and build a more peaceful world. May he rest in peace.
Happy Easter to all those celebrating in Illinois and around the world! I hope everyone has a great holiday filled with joy, hope, and love.
When the Trump Administration dismantles the Department of Education, Illinois could lose its Title I funding – federal resources that fund more than 17,000 teaching positions in our state and ensure students in underserved communities can get a good education in a public school.
Community health centers across Central and Southern Illinois rely on Medicaid to keep their doors open. Today, I met with frontline care providers and patients at Carle Foundation Hospital in Champaign and Crossing Healthcare in Decatur to highlight what’s at stake if Medicaid is cut.
