I joined Rep. John Larson and more than 150 Democrats in defending Social Security. We won’t let Trump and Elon Musk gut Social Security and take away these hard earned benefits from nearly 70 million Americans. larson.house.gov/media-center...

My statement on President Trump's address to Congress ⬇️
Tonight, I hope to hear from President Trump on how he plans to lower costs for families. Since he took office on January 20, prices have only gone up. He needs to focus on making life easier for working families – not harder.
As a special education teacher from Belleville, Lisa Quandt is the perfect person to highlight how Trump’s attacks on the Department of Education are hurting working families. I’m honored to bring her as my guest to the president’s Joint Address to Congress.
Tonight, Lisa Quandt – a special education teacher from Belleville – will be in the audience as President Trump delivers a joint address to Congress. Lisa knows firsthand how much her students will suffer if Trump follows through on his plan to slash funding for special education programs.
7.5 million students with disabilities will lose access to special education services funded by the federal government if Trump guts the U.S. Department of Education. I’m proud to stand with @aftunion.bsky.social on the side of protecting our students, educators and public schools! #ProtectOurKids
Donald Trump's reckless approach to tariffs will not protect American jobs – it will hurt American farmers. China and Canada are major importers of U.S. agricultural products and this trade war unleashed by the president is a disaster for Illinois growers and producers. www.npr.org/2025/03/03/n...
I joined NPR Illinois’ Morning Edition to talk about my expectations for President Trump’s speech tonight. ⬇️

I’m proud to receive a perfect score from the Humane World Action Fund for my work to protect animal welfare! #HumaneScorecard
Wieland has been a cornerstone of good-paying union jobs and economic growth in East Alton for over a century. That legacy is solidified with the groundbreaking of Wieland’s East Alton Modernization Project today. I’m proud to have helped secure this investment and support Wieland’s expansion.
Tariffs can be a useful tool to support American workers and manufacturing, but a blanket 25% tariff on goods from Canada and Mexico will only raise costs for working families. Taking a sledgehammer to our closest trading partners is the wrong approach. www.washingtonpost.com/business/202...
My bipartisan LEAP Act will create new opportunities for American workers by supporting apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship programs – a proven way to fill the skills gap and get folks ready for careers in growing industries!

Small businesses, nonprofits and everyday Illinoisans still can’t access the more than $1.8 billion in federal funding being illegally withheld from our state. I’m joining @govpritzker.illinois.gov in demanding the White House release these critical resources. www.bnd.com/news/state/i...
I’m excited to announce that my guest for President Trump’s Joint Address to Congress is Lisa Quandt, a special education teacher from Belleville! Her work is proof that we must protect Department of Education programs that support public schools and give all students the chance to thrive.
More than 216,000 seniors, children and working people in #IL13 get their healthcare through Medicaid. The budget resolution adopted by House Republicans this week puts that at risk. I’ll never support policies that put billionaires over working families.
Happy Women’s History Month! This month, we celebrate the women leaders and trailblazers who defied the odds, broke glass ceilings and showed us that anything is possible.
Ramadan Mubarak to all observing in #IL13 and around the world!
Sustainable aviation fuel helps cut emissions, support family farmers and increase our energy independence. I’m proud to re-introduce the Farm to Fly Act — bipartisan legislation that will allow homegrown biofuels to power our aviation sector while supporting growth in rural economies.
